Police still seeking slain man's brother after his car found near Ivanhoe park

Both cars belonging to Jonathan Dick, the man wanted for questioning after his brother was slain at a Doncaster shopping centre, have been found.

A blue 1997 Ford Fairmont sedan, registration ONV 954, was found parked in Wamba Road, Ivanhoe about midday on Saturday, February 11.

CCTV: man wanted over fatal attack in Doncaster

Police say they believe the suspect is the brother of victim David Dick, who died after being attacked at the Doncaster shopping centre last Friday.

Wamba Road runs alongside Ivanhoe Park in Melbourne's east.

A neighbour said the car had been parked there for about a week until police were called by a resident on Saturday.

It's believed police had searched the Yarra River nearby.

Homicide Squad detectives believe another car, a white station wagon, was disposed of before his younger brother David Dick was killed on Friday, February 3.

David, 36, from Doncaster, was brutally attacked as he walked out of a lift at Westfield about 6am.

He was found bleeding to death by members of a gym group minutes later.

His older brother Jonathan, 39, is a person of interest in the investigation.

Homicide Squad head Detective Inspector Mick Hughes said last week police believed Jonathan was the man captured on CCTV footage at the scene of the crime.

Footage shows a man carrying a bag, which looks like a spirit level bag, in the lift lobby about 24 hours before David was killed.

It's believed CCTV also captured the attack, where what police described as an edged weapon, possibly a sword, was used in the violent assault.

Jonathan, who lives by himself in Seymour, has been missing since the assault.

Their youngest brother Simon had door-knocked his neighbours in Seymour last Sunday to try and break the news of David's death to him.

Jonathan, who friends said had a close relationship with David and had lived with him before he moved to Seymour, was named as a person of interest three days later. He has recently been diagnosed with a mental health condition.

Investigators appealed for information on anyone who saw the blue Ford Fairmont in the lead-up to the crime or in the days afterwards. Police said the other car Jonathan had access to, the white station wagon, was not of interest to the investigation.

Images of Jonathan and the blue Ford Fairmont have been released in the hope someone may recognise him or have information on his current whereabouts.
