Minor Flood Warning for the Swan River

Flood Warning Number: 18
Minor flooding is expected to continue in the Swan River during Friday into
Saturday as flood waters move downstream.
Swan River upstream of Walyunga:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Swan River upstream of Walyunga.
The Swan River at Walyunga is currently at 3.81 metres and steady. The Swan
River at Walyunga is expected to remain around the minor flood level (3.50 m)
during Friday into Saturday.
Swan River downstream of Walyunga:
Minor flooding is easing along the Swan River downstream of Walyunga.
River levels are expected to recede slowly in the lower Swan River during
Friday into Saturday. Unusual currents and fast flowing water may be hazardous
to river users.
The Swan River at Meadow Street Bridge (Guildford) is currently at 1.07 m and
falling slowly. The river is expected to remain below the minor flood level
(2.00 m), fluctuating with the tide during Friday into Saturday.
The Swan River at Barrack Street Jetty is currently at 0.75 metres and steady.
The river is expected to remain below the minor flood level (1.60 m) during
Friday into Saturday.
Flood Safety Advice:
DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and
be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers
need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel
plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and
velocity.

The hemispheric long wave pattern has been relatively fast moving in recent weeks. There are six main troughs. Currently the most significant troughs are near the longitudes of South Africa, the Indian Ocean, eastern Australia, the south Pacific, the southeast Pacific, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Summary:
Over southern and eastern Australia the cold front events with potential to bring widespread rain are now expected about 4 March to 8 March, 11 March to 15 March, and 23 March to 27 March. Rain events originating in the tropics and moving south are possible about 2 March to 6 March, 6 March to 10 March, and 13 March to 17 March. Over Western Australia the strongest cold fronts should occur about 28 February to 4 March, 5 March to 9 March, and 11 March to 15 March.
