Lol Creme
Laurence Neil "Lol" Creme (born 19 September 1947 in Prestwich, England) is an English musician and music video director, best known for his work in 10cc. He sings and plays guitar, bass and keyboards.
Biography
Creme was born in Prestwich, England. "Lol" is a traditional English nickname for Laurence; while attending art school in Birmingham, he took up the nickname Lolagon and met Kevin Godley. They became part of several bands together, most significantly 10cc, and in 1976 departed 10cc together to record as Godley & Creme. The pair later became prolific music video directors, working with bands including Yes. Creme directed the 1991 Jamaican comedy film The Lunatic.
In 1998, Creme became a member of the band Art of Noise, with Anne Dudley and Trevor Horn, and directed videos for the artists who recorded with them, such as Tom Jones. Further work with Horn followed, including forming the band Producers, also with Chris Braide and Steve Lipson.
Family
Creme's son Lalo was a member of the 1990s indie-dance band Arkarna and has also worked on a number of projects with his father. His wife Angie is the sister of ex-10cc member Eric Stewart's wife Gloria.

Godley & Creme
Godley & Creme were an English rock duo composed of Kevin Godley and Lol Creme. The pair began releasing albums as a duo after splitting from the pop band 10cc. In 1979 they directed their first music video for their own single "An Englishman in New York". After this, they became involved in directing videos for such artists as Ultravox, The Police, Duran Duran, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Wang Chung, as well as directing the ground-breaking video for their own "Cry" in 1985. The duo split at the end of the 1980s and have both been involved in music videos, TV commercials, and sporadic music projects since.
Musical career
Kevin Godley and Lol Creme met in the late 1950s and for a brief time were in a band together. Through the 1960s they played in different bands, with Godley briefly in The Mockingbirds with Graham Gouldman, who would later work with Godley and Creme in 10cc.
After recording a one-off single under the name of "Yellow Bellow Room Boom" for UK CBS in 1967 ("Seeing Things Green" b/w "Still Life"), the pair began their professional music career together in 1969, performing pop music in Strawberry Studios at Stockport near Manchester with Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman (often mistakenly referred to as being "Bubblegum Music", perhaps because they were contracted by Kasenetz & Katz, who produced bubblegum sub-teen pop in the US on the Buddah label). Their first chart success was as members of the short-lived Hotlegs, which evolved into 10cc in 1972. 10cc enjoyed chart success, most notably with their 1975 single "I'm Not in Love", a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

Lol Creme (10cc) live at Buggles' Lost Gig
Lol Creme not only played the guitar for the The Buggles at The Lost Gig performance on Sep 28, 2010 in London, but also sang one of the greatest 10cc songs: Rubber Bullets. Here's the last part of that song, as well as the beginning of "I'm not in Love", another 10cc hit. Note: This concert was a fund-raiser for the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (http://www.rhn.org.uk/) and raised about £85k that night through ticket sales, raffles and auctions.

We were filming The Producers - a supergroup comprising of Trevor Horn, Lol Créme, Stephen Lipson and Ash Soan - when discussion turned to Frankie Goes To Hollywood's immortal Two Tribes, specifically whether Mark O'Toole of the band played the full, extremely difficult bassline live or not. Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Art of Noise, taTu, Godley & Crème, 10CC, ABC, Buggles, Slave To The Rhythm by Grace Jones... why are we listing amazing bands and records? Because The Producers made those amazing records by those amazing bands. And now they're a band themselves. The Producers are Trevor Horn, Lol Créme, Stephen Lipson and Ash Soan. Between them they've had over 200 hit singles and albums. Together they hoped to become the most over qualified pub band in the world, playing to relieve the tension of working in the studio. But now The Producers has become a whole lot more than that, and their debut album Made In Basing Street is a celebration of the sounds and musicianship that made them some of the most successful names in the business.
We filmed them playing, semi unplugged in a room at the legendary Sarm West Studios. It's a bit special. After this they played Two Tribes. Yes really. And we filmed that too.

The first record Creme and Godley released after their departure from 10cc is a monumental, ambitious work that lasts nearly 2 hours - and it is one of my favourite records of all time. It was published 1977 in an expensive 3LP-box, probably too expensive for a number of possible buyers. I still remember it being the most expensive record i ever bought. 1991 followed a double-CD edition limited to 3000 worldwide. It was impossible to get it in a normal record shop, at last i found a used copy in a specialty shop in a foreign country and again i had to pay a real nice sum for it. With a price policy like that it is no wonder that the record always was quite rare, which is a pity because it is so wonderful.At the beginning and the end there are 2 very long instrumental parts. The first with extensive use of the gizmo, a device the two had invented to change sounds of electric guitar, from which they thought it would revolutionize the rockmusic world. But as far as i know nobody else except them ever used this thing. The second at the end "Blint´s Tune" is a parody of a classic symphony knitted together from stolen musical themes from beginning to end. So this is a bit special. We were filming The Producers - a supergroup comprising of Trevor Horn, Lol Créme, Stephen Lipson and Ash Soan - when discussion turned to Frankie Goes To Hollywood's immortal Two Tribes, specifically whether Mark O'Toole of the band played the full, extremely difficult bassline live or not. And then, these incredible men who have made some of the greatest pop records of all time played Two Tribes - the record they originally produced, engineered and played on. And here it is. Blimey. The Producers - Made In Basing Street is out on June 25. PS. That's Julian Hinton on keyboard.

This is the tenth studio album by the english rock band 10cc, released in 1992. The album was the band's first in 9 years, and also saw the reunion of the original 10cc lineup of Eric Stewart, Graham Goldman, Lol Creme, and Kevin Godley. However, Creme and Godley didn't contribute to the songwriting and only provided backing vocals (and Godley provided lead vocals on track 6). Listen Now is the second album and debut studio album by 801, whose live debut was released in November 1976. In 1977, hoping to capitalize on the success of 801 Live, a revised version of 801 (now known as Phil Manzanera/801) recorded and released a studio album with additional collaborating musicians including Kevin Godley and Lol Creme of 10cc, and Tim Finn of Split Enz. Only Phil Manzanera and Bill MacCormick remain important members of the band, while Francis Monkman, Simon Phillips and Eno are treated as sidekicks. Lloyd Watson left the project altogether. Listen Now is the second album and debut studio album by 801, whose live debut was released in November 1976. In 1977, hoping to capitalize on the success of 801 Live, a revised version of 801 (now known as Phil Manzanera/801) recorded and released a studio album with additional collaborating musicians including Kevin Godley and Lol Creme of 10cc, and Tim Finn of Split Enz. Only Phil Manzanera and Bill MacCormick remain important members of the band, while Francis Monkman, Simon Phillips and Eno are treated as sidekicks. Lloyd Watson left the project altogether. Vocal duties were shared by Simon Ainley and MacCormick.

Phil Manzanera had no problem filling his mid-'70s downtime away from Roxy Music. His guitar graced some 20 albums, like John Cale's Fear, Eno's Here Come the Warm Jets, and Nico's The End. This outing from his all-star side group is slicker than his 1976 live debut album, but no less worthwhile; some 16 musicians are credited. The sound is sleek and sophisticated; even lyrics aren't exempt from creative twists, as shown on "Listen Now"'s glistening jazz-pop -- which cleverly juxtaposes its title against a bouncy "now, now, listen" chorus. The song also questions how people are living life in a repressive society, even as "Law and Order" and "City of Lights" ponder its breakdown. Other songs visit more personal turf. "Flight 19" details a young man's angst-filled reaction to his lover's injuries, "Postcard Love" dismisses the perils of on-road romances, and "That Falling Feeling" takes a more wistful look at how people grow apart -- over a gliding Manzanera guitar part. (Yet another sly twist shifts the chorus from "Can't you feel it moving in?" to "You can feel it moving in.") Three totally different instrumentals round out matters. The best one is the lilting "Island," anchored by a climbing Bill McCormick bassline, as Manzanera unleashes his full array of guitar-altering devices. "Initial Speed" and "Que?" take more of a jazz/fusion tack; they're different snapshots of Manzanera's graceful, intelligent guitar style. This album's one of the most absorbing entries of Manzanera's lengthy career.
