Elle (magazine)

Elle is a worldwide lifestyle magazine of French origin that focuses on fashion, beauty, health, and entertainment.Elle is also the world's best-selling fashion magazine. It was founded by Pierre Lazareff and his wife Hélène Gordon in 1945. The title, in French, means "she" or "her".

History

Elle was founded in France in 1945. In the 1960s, it was considered to "not so much reflect fashion as decree it", with 800,000 loyal readers and a then famous slogan: "Si elle lit, elle lit Elle (If she reads, she reads Elle)". In 1981, Daniel Filipacchi and Jean-Luc Lagardère purchased Hachette magazines, which included the then-struggling Elle. Elle was then launched in the U.S. (News Corporation owned a stake in the US edition until 1988, followed by 25 other foreign editions). The Chinese version of the magazine was published in 1988, and is the only edition which is published twice monthly.

In 2007 the website of Elle was launched.

Among its past editors is Jean-Dominique Bauby, who became known for writing a book after suffering almost total paralysis.

Serenay Sarıkaya

Serenay Sarıkaya (Turkish pronunciation: [seɾeˌnaj saˈɾɯkaja]) (born 1 July 1991 in Ankara, Turkey) is a Turkish actress and model. At the age 15, she participated in a beauty competition and received a special award from the jury. She later rose to prominence by acting in the cinema movie Plajda (2008).

Sarıkaya made her acting debut with a minor part in the movie Şaşkın (2006) and later starred in the film Plajda (2008). At the same year she appeared in the television series Peri Masalı (2008) directed by Sinan Çetin and was later prepared by him for her first leading role in Limon Ağacı (2008). She later appeared at the final episodes of Adanalı (2008–2010). Sarıkaya became the first runner-up at Miss Turkey 2010. She came to international attention for her roles in Lale Devri (2010–2012) and Medcezir (2013–2015) and received critical acclaim and won numerous accolades, including two Golden Butterfly Awards. She continued her movie career with a role in Behzat Ç. Ankara Yanıyor (2013).
