Yemen Army Pounding King Fahd Military Base in Taif, Southern Saudi Arabia with Ballistic Missiles.
Yemen's powerful ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh, a key player in the political scene in Yement, called for an escalation of attacks against their common enemy Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Saleh, a politician who retains influence over Yemen's military, spoke a day after an apparent Saudi-led air attack on a meeting hall in the capital Sanaa killed at least 140 people, according to local health officials cited by the United Nations. Sources in the Saudi-led coalition denied any role in the attack. "I call upon all the sons of this nation ... to face this aggression with all their strength and you must proceed to the battlefronts," Saleh said in a televised speech. "The defense ministry, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and the interior ministry must put in place the necessary measures for battle readiness at the fronts on the (Saudi) border."

Ta'if
Ta'if (Arabic: الطائف; (aṭ-Ṭā'if)) is a city in Mecca Province of Saudi Arabia at an elevation of 1,879 m (6,165 ft) on the slopes of Sarawat Mountains (Al-Sarawat Mountains). It has a population of 521,273 (2004 census). Each summer the Saudi government and royal family move from the heat of Riyadh to Ta'if, the unofficial summer capital. The city is the centre of an agricultural area known for its grapes, pomegranate, figs, roses and honey.
Ethnography
The inhabitants of Ta'if are largely made up of Saudi Arabians who are Hanbali and Maliki Sunnis. There are also significant foreign populations, primarily from Asia, Turkey, and other Arab countries that are also present in Ta'if.
History
Early history
In the 6th century the city of Tā'if was dominated by the Banu Thaqif tribe, which still lives in and around the city of Taif today. It has been suggested that Jewish tribes who were displaced by Ethiopian Christians in the Himyarite Kingdom wars settled near Taif.
The town is about 100 km (62 mi) southeast of Mecca. The walled city was a religious centre as it housed the idol of the goddess Allāt, who was then known as "the lady of Tā'if." Its climate marked the city out from its dry and barren neighbours closer to the Red Sea. Wheat, vines, and fruit were grown around Tā'if and this is how the city earned its title "the Garden of the Hejaz".

Saudi Arabia (
i/ˌsɔːdiː əˈreɪbiə/, i/ˌsaʊ-/), officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), is an Arab state in Western Asia constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. With a land area of approximately 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi), Saudi Arabia is geographically the second-largest state in the Arab world after Algeria. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. It is the only nation with both a Red Sea coast and a Persian Gulf coast, and most of its terrain consists of arid inhospitable desert or barren landforms.
The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: Hejaz, Najd, and parts of Eastern Arabia (Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy, effectively a hereditary dictatorship governed along Islamic lines. The ultra-conservative Wahhabism religious movement within Sunni Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture", with its global spreading largely financed by the oil and gas trade. Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam. The Kingdom has a total population of 28.7 million, of which 20 million are Saudi nationals and 8 million are foreigners.

Muhammad
Muḥammad (Arabic: محمد; c. 570 CE – 8 June 632 CE), is the central figure of Islam and widely regarded as its founder. He is known to Muslims as the "Holy Prophet", almost all of whom consider him to be the last prophet sent by God to mankind to restore Islam, which they believe to be the unaltered original monotheistic faith of Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and other prophets. He united Arabia into a single Muslim polity and ensured that his teachings, practices, and the Quran, which Muslims believe was revealed to him by God, formed the basis of Islamic religious belief.
Born approximately in 570 CE in the Arabian city of Mecca, Muhammad was orphaned at an early age; he was raised under the care of his paternal uncle Abu Talib. After his childhood Muhammad primarily worked as a merchant. Occasionally, he would retreat to a cave named Hira in the mountains for several nights of seclusion and prayer; later, at age 40, he reported being visited by Gabriel in the cave and received his first revelation from God. Three years after this event Muhammad started preaching these revelations publicly, proclaiming that "God is One", that complete "surrender" (lit. islām) to him is the only way (dīn) acceptable to God, and that he was a prophet and messenger of God, similar to the other prophets in Islam.

Yemen's powerful ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh, a key player in the political scene in Yement, called for an escalation of attacks against their common enemy Saudi Arabia on Sunday. Saleh, a politician who retains influence over Yemen's military, spoke a day after an apparent Saudi-led air attack on a meeting hall in the capital Sanaa killed at least 140 people, according to local health officials cited by the United Nations. Sources in the Saudi-led coalition denied any role in the attack. "I call upon all the sons of this nation ... to face this aggression with all their strength and you must proceed to the battlefronts," Saleh said in a televised speech. "The defense ministry, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and the interior ministry must put in place the necessary measures for battle readiness at the fronts on the (Saudi) border."

Construction of this elaborate temple complex - built in honour of the god Vishnu - began in AD 879 during the reign of King Suryavarman II and was completed in 1191. It lay concealed for many years, however, until the site was discovered by Frenchman Henri Mahout in 1860. The central complex, Angkor Wat, features an elaborate, unmortared 66-metre (215-foot) central tower surrounded by four smaller towers. Stretching around the outside of the temple complex is an 800m-long (2625ft) bas-relief, the longest in the world. This is Cambodia's most iconic sight, and particularly popular at sunset among tour groups. The temple is so synonymous with the country that it dominates the national flag, and to visit it today is to marvel at the scale of its ambition, built as it was in the 12th century.
Bayon
----------
Another of the most distinctive Angkor temples, Bayon is characterised by a series of colossal stone faces, gazing out serenely in all four directions, as well as some painstakingly detailed bas-reliefs. Bayon was built at a similar time to Angkor Wat.
Bokor Hill Station

An abandoned French hill station in the south of the country, Bokor was built originally as a weekend sanctuary for settlers stuck in stifling Phnom Penh. Today, the hotel and casino complex stands as an eerily derelict reminder of days gone by.
Cycling around Angkor

Hire a bike and spend a few days exploring the myriad glories of the jungled Angkor Temple Complex. The showpiece architecture of Angkor Wat makes it the best known of the temples, but there are dozens of others to discover.
Dolphin spotting
The claim to fame of the Mekong town of Kratie is its population of Irrawaddy river dolphins. Various tour operators organise early-morning boat trips to observe these peaceful creatures in their natural habitat.
Feast on fresh seafood

Cambodia's coastline offers the chance for the archetypal Asian beach experience, but no amount of sea and sand is complete without sampling its ocean-fresh seafood. The stretch around Kampot and Kep is excellent for just-caught crab.

Not your standard tourist activity, but then Cambodia's not your standard tourist destination - for a price, visitors can take control of high-grade weaponry on countryside shooting ranges. Machine guns can also be hired.

The southern town provides a gateway to exploring the Cham villages and sweeping vistas of the surrounding countryside. If you're looking to travel in an unrushed fashion and to get acquainted with another side of the country, this is as good a base as any.
National Museum

Set in Phnom Penh, the National Museum (www.cambodiamuseum.info) is the country's leading archaeological and historical museum. It plays home to what is one of the world's most comprehensive collections of Khmer art, including bronzes, sculptures and ceramics. It was constructed by the French in 1917.
Phnom Tamao Wildlife Sanctuary

A large park south of Phnom Penh given over to animals retrieved from poachers and traffickers. Wildlife in the sanctuary includes tigers, elephants and gibbons, and it offers an effective way of learning more about Cambodian fauna.

To get a clearer understanding of the brutal reign of Pol Pot, visit the Killing Fields outside Phnom Penh. It makes for a sobering experience, but a salutary one in terms of learning more about the realities the country faced.

Angkor

Angkor, the former capital of the ancient Khmer Empire, is one of the greatest and most spectacular Hindu religious sites in the world. Construction of this elaborate temple complex - built in honour of the god Vishnu - began in AD 879 during the reign of King Suryavarman II and was completed in 1191. It lay concealed for many years, however, until the site was discovered by Frenchman Henri Mahout in 1860. The central complex, Angkor Wat, features an elaborate, unmortared 66-metre (215-foot) central tower surrounded by four smaller towers. Stretching around the outside of the temple complex is an 800m-long (2625ft) bas-relief, the longest in the world. This is Cambodia's most iconic sight, and particularly popular at sunset among tour groups. The temple is so synonymous with the country that it dominates the national flag, and to visit it today is to marvel at the scale of its ambition, built as it was in the 12th century.
Bayon
----------
Another of the most distinctive Angkor temples, Bayon is characterised by a series of colossal stone faces, gazing out serenely in all four directions, as well as some painstakingly detailed bas-reliefs. Bayon was built at a similar time to Angkor Wat.
Bokor Hill Station
--------------------
An abandoned French hill station in the south of the country, Bokor was built originally as a weekend sanctuary for settlers stuck in stifling Phnom Penh. Today, the hotel and casino complex stands as an eerily derelict reminder of days gone by.
Cycling around Angkor
----------------------
Hire a bike and spend a few days exploring the myriad glories of the jungled Angkor Temple Complex. The showpiece architecture of Angkor Wat makes it the best known of the temples, but there are dozens of others to discover.
Dolphin spotting
The claim to fame of the Mekong town of Kratie is its population of Irrawaddy river dolphins. Various tour operators organise early-morning boat trips to observe these peaceful creatures in their natural habitat.
Feast on fresh seafood

Cambodia's coastline offers the chance for the archetypal Asian beach experience, but no amount of sea and sand is complete without sampling its ocean-fresh seafood. The stretch around Kampot and Kep is excellent for just-caught crab.
Fire a rocket-launcher
Not your standard tourist activity, but then Cambodia's not your standard tourist destination - for a price, visitors can take control of high-grade weaponry on countryside shooting ranges. Machine guns can also be hired.

The southern town provides a gateway to exploring the Cham villages and sweeping vistas of the surrounding countryside. If you're looking to travel in an unrushed fashion and to get acquainted with another side of the country, this is as good a base as any.
National Museum

Set in Phnom Penh, the National Museum (www.cambodiamuseum.info) is the country's leading archaeological and historical museum. It plays home to what is one of the world's most comprehensive collections of Khmer art, including bronzes, sculptures and ceramics. It was constructed by the French in 1917.
Phnom Tamao Wildlife Sanctuary

A large park south of Phnom Penh given over to animals retrieved from poachers and traffickers. Wildlife in the sanctuary includes tigers, elephants and gibbons, and it offers an effective way of learning more about Cambodian fauna.
Revisit history

To get a clearer understanding of the brutal reign of Pol Pot, visit the Killing Fields outside Phnom Penh. It makes for a sobering experience, but a salutary one in terms of learning more about the realities the country faced.

Few countries have left more of an impression upon me than Cambodia. I've now visited four times and each and every time I had a completely different experience. I learned what I loved and what I disliked about the country. In particular, I became fond of cities such as Siem Reap and Battambang whereas I found Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville to be less appealing. The shining star attraction I could never get enough of was the Temples of Angkor. Cambodia is a country with a tragic past; however, the future appears to be brighter as it becomes more frequented by tourists every year.

The following is a list of the top things to do while traveling in Cambodia with an emphasis on the top attractions in this travel guide:
1) Angkor Wat! Visiting Cambodia and not going to Angkor Wat is the equivalent of a traveler going to Peru and not checking out Machu Picchu. As the largest religious structure in the world you'll be amazed at it sheer size!
2) One of the more quirky attractions in Cambodia is the Bamboo Train in Battambang. For a small fee you can hop on a bamboo platform and race across rickety old rail tracks. With the wind in your hair you might - once or twice - wonder about the safety of the experience.
3) Khmer cuisine is delightfully delicious and learning how to make it is surprisingly affordable compared to the costs of cooking classes in many neighboring countries. We tried our hand at making Amok, a fish in a coconut curry base, and Lok Lak, tender beef strips in a thick sauce.
4) Trying traditional Cambodian food. We had a big platter of different Khmer delights in the heart of Siem Reap. It's worth it just to dig right in and enjoy!
5) To learn more about the tragic history of Cambodia a visit to Choeung Ek, also known as the Killing Fields, is a must. The brutal Khmer Rouge regime executed 1 in 4 of its population with many being tortured and killed here - eventually being discarded in mass graves.
6) To enjoy Khmer arts and performances I'd highly recommend a traditional Apsara show. The performance consists of several parts including a folk dance, folk music and mime.
7) Want to feel happy inside? How about trying a happy pizza in Siem Reap? Not long ago, these special Khmer pizzas featured marijuana as a topping. Nowadays, it is just spices and herbs. A pizza pie won't cost you a fortune.
8) In Phnom Penh, one of the main tourist attractions is the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum formerly known as S-21. What was once a primary school became converted into a detention, interrogation and torture center for the Khmer Rouge. An estimated 20,000 died here between 1975 and 1978. The evil man behind all of this was Pol Pot.
10) One of my favorite temples, aside from Angkor Wat, is Bayon located in Angkor Thom. At these ruins, you'll notice many cold faces that offer a hint of a smile. If you're good at counting try to spot the 216 faces that exist!
11) The local circus in Battambang supports a great cause while offering an entertaining show. Run by an NGO helping out disadvantaged children the performances are spectacular. What was great to hear is that some of the most talented performances.
12) If you must have beach time I suppose you could consider Sihanoukville.
13) If you wake up early enough and head straight to Banteay Srei you may just have the entire temple to yourself. That's exactly what happened to us as we were the first to arrive.
14) While visiting the temples of Angkor chances are you'll hear traditional Khmer music. Many of the performers playing traditional Cambodian music are landmine victims.
15) Have you ever watched the movie Tomb Raider before? If you have you'll notice Ta Prohm. This is where nature dominates architecture.
16) Taking a bus in Cambodia is never dull. Just look outside of your window and you'll be treated to stunning scenery and automobiles that don't exist elsewhere.
17) When visiting Cambodia be sure to check out the rural countryside. We took a countryside tour of Battambang where we got to see how certain foods are prepared and we even got to try eating insects! They tasted yummy!

There are wonders of the world and then there are places on planet earth that seem like they deserve an upper echelon category. Machu Picchu is certainly one of those places. The lost city of the Incas, also known as the Old Mountain (Machu Pikchu), is a 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 meters above sea level. Visiting Machu Picchu again for a second time was a reconfirmation of its ability to impress all over again. We toured the site, this time around with a guide, on the first day with rainy conditions in the morning and overcast by the afternoon. On the second day, it was just gorgeous and sunny outside from the moment we arrived. My biggest tip for anyone visiting Machu Picchu is to budget several days to visit the site because of its sheer size and how unpredictable the weather can be.

So do you think people will be able to guess where we are based on the landscape? I'm not too sure. It's quite foggy right now. Where could we be? What could be off in the distance? Good question. Should we tell? Yes. It is Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu. That is Machu Picchu guys. Breathtaking is it not?
This is a baby llama having breakfast. Breakfast time.
Can you give us an update on the current situation? So the current situation is that it has stopped raining. Yes. And it is starting to clear a bit. We're hopeful. Right now it is eight thirty six, and we're hopeful that maybe around ten or eleven, if it doesn't rain again, that we'll have some sunshine. Clear visibility of Machu Picchu. Get those iconic views. Yeah.
We know that the Quechua people were able to mummify people. But they used to mummify some important people from their culture. So they used to mummify to the royal family, they used to mummify to some people who were part of the high class people. So then they'd take the bodies. The mummies into the cave and they'd put them you know in the fetal position because they used to believe that they could enter into a different life after this life.
Rocking the new hats. The chuyos. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
So the soldiers possibly used this to place the torch. The fire. Okay. But also they could maybe place here a pet which was maybe a llama or this was maybe an alpaca that they would use to sacrifice in one of the temples.
So here we're checking out an Inca toilet. Is it an en-suite? I'd say so.

Alright, so we found a nice quiet spot here and I want to know your impressions of coming back to Machu Picchu for a second time?
Okay, so Sam, you visited Machu Picchu about six years ago, how has does this trip compare to that one?
This is like night and day. Six years ago I was the ultimate cheapskate backpacker. I came to Machu Picchu using the cheapest transportation route possible. Basically I took this van on this really twisty serpentine off-road area and then I went across on this cable car using this wooden trolley. It was really dangerous.
Okay, so now next question. I know people always see Machu Picchu in documentaries, postcards, magazines. Do you think it is important for people to see it in person? Yeah, absolutely. It's actually one of these wonders of the world that actually lives up to its reputation. And what I really think, what I really get out of coming to Machu Picchu is just a sense of the sheer scale of the place. Like it is massive. When you come here and walk around you get a really good sense of just how big this lost city of the Inca's is. Woo hoo! Go Machu Picchu!

Basically I took this van on this really twisty serpentine off-road area and then I went across on this cable car using this wooden trolley. It was really dangerous.
Okay, so now next question. I know people always see Machu Picchu in documentaries, postcards, magazines. Do you think it is important for people to see it in person? Yeah, absolutely. It's actually one of these wonders of the world that actually lives up to its reputation. And what I really think, what I really get out of coming to Machu Picchu is just a sense of the sheer scale of the place. Like it is massive. When you come here and walk around you get a really good sense of just how big this lost city of the Inca's is. Woo hoo! Go Machu Picchu!

With Siem Reap and the famous Angkor temples that were built here between the 9th and 15th centuries, Cambodia has one of the greatest tourist attractions anywhere in the world.
Covering some 400sqks, the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Archiological Park is home to scores of temples, canals, bridges and gateways. The most famous temple is Angkor Wat, built during the first half of the 12th century and today receives more than 2 million visitors a year. Best seen at dawn before the crowds arrive and as the sun turns the east face pink, it is a truly incredible site. Ta Prohm is famous for the temple strangling trees that seem to devour the ancient structures and my own favourite is the beautiful Angkor Thom, or Bayon Temple, with its serene collection of exquisitely carved faces. With so much to see you’ll need at least two if not three days here.
But where in the past people thought that the temples of Siem Reap were all Cambodia had to offer, now things are changing. For a start there are many more wonderful Angkorian and pre-Angkorian temples to see such as at Preah Vihear, on the border with Thailand, Banteay Chhmar and at Sambor Prei Kuk on the road to Phnom Penh. And in Battambang, the provincial capital of Battambang Province, is an atmospheric and quite town, which is home to an array of temples, both old and new, and the famous bamboo train, on which our clients can take a stunning ride through the countryside.
And if you want to get further off the beaten track on your own private adventure, why not travel up to Phnom Kulem, otherwise known as the Sacred Mountains. Here you can visit waterfalls, a local village and school and trek through the jungle to find remote and fascinating temples, like the stone elephant deep in the jungle. Here you can stay in an amazing camp, put up especially for you, and have night of glamping amongst nature as the only travellers for miles around.

Whilst Phnom Penh my not have the plethora of obvious tourist attractions some of the other capital cities of the region possess, it is still an interesting place and definitely deserves a day or two exploring. Sitting at the confluence of the Tonlé Sap and Mekong Rivers, packed with great restaurant and bars, there are plenty of places to explore including the Wat Phnom, the city’s first pagoda, the old French Quarter and the towns busy market. There are also some great places to stay the most famous of which is Raffles Hotel.

Heading south from Phnom Penh you’ll come to Kep. Under French rule, Kep – known at the time as Kep-Sur-Mer – was Cambodia’s most prestigious beach town. Established in 1908 it became a thriving resort for the French and following independence for the Cambodian elite. Although the beach is nothing much to shout about, its architecture, its cuisine and its sleepy, laid-back atmosphere make it is a lovely place to discover.
The most important thing about Kep today is its famous crab market, which is a fascinating place to visit as the catch comes in. It’s also a good place to grab lunch.
From here you can head into the Cardamom Mountains for some more trekking and adventure activities, or for some R&R; and some more great food further down to the beach town of Sihanoukville.
With increased economic growth has come a huge improvement in the country’s infrastructure. Roads are in good condition, fine restaurants offer great cuisine and impressive hotels are springing up all over the country.
In Siem Reap and Phnom Penh the choices are endless. In Kep you have the absolutely wonderful and architecturally significant Knai Bang Chatt. In Koh Kong province, close the Thai Border, is the stunning 4 Rivers Resort – a unique floating luxury camp, exquisitely positioned at a bend in the Tatai River offering some of the most original accommodation anywhere in Southeast Asia. And if you really want to push the boat out on the private island of Song Saa you have one of the most amazing resorts in the region.
Added to that great guides can be found and the country is totally safe.
