Henry Darrow (born September 15, 1933) is a Puerto Rican-American character actor of stage and film known for his role as Manolito Montoya on the 1960s television series The High Chaparral. On film, Darrow played the corrupt and vengeful Trooper Hancock in The Hitcher. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was seen in numerous guest starring television roles during the 1970s. Darrow replaced Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. as Don Alejandro de la Vega in the popular 1990s television series Zorro.
Darrow was born Enrique Tomas Delgado in New York City, the first son of Gloria and Enrique Pio Delgado, who worked in the restaurant and clothing businesses. Darrow's parents had migrated from Puerto Rico to New York in the early 1930s. At the age of eight, he played a woodcutter in a school play, an experience which convinced him that his destiny was as an actor.
In 1946, when Darrow was 13, his family returned to Puerto Rico, where he discovered his roots and grew to love a country he had not known. He graduated from Academia del Perpetuo Socorro high school in Miramar, Puerto Rico, as class president before enrolling in the University of Puerto Rico. There he studied political science and acting, and worked as a part-time English-language interpreter. During his third year at the University, he was awarded a Scholarship (the first of its kind) to attend acting school. Thereupon Darrow moved to Los Angeles, where he enrolled in the Pasadena Playhouse. He met and married his first wife, Lucy and they went on to have two children, Denise and Tom. Darrow graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in theater arts.

Against the Wall is a 1994 made-for-television drama film starring Samuel L. Jackson and Kyle MacLachlan, directed by John Frankenheimer. Based on the true story of the Attica Prison uprising of 1971. It was shot in Nashville, Clarksville, and the Tennessee State Penitentiary. Attica was the site of a prison riot in 1971 which resulted in 43 deaths, of which 33 were convicts and ten were correctional officers and civilian employees. One guard died by the hands of the rioting convicts in the early stages of the riot. The rest died by gunfire from state troopers and other retired guards. One of the biggest reasons for the riot was overcrowding, but to this day Attica Correctional Facility is still over maximum capacity by double bunking a small portion of their population in the small cells...

I met Henry Darrow at his book signing in Tucson, AZ on March 22, 2013. I used to love the western he starred in from 1967-71 called The High Chaparral. I also loved him in the series Harry O in 1973-74 with my idol David Janssen. I got a hug, a pic with him, his book personally autographed, and a doc I made with pics of him & DJ from Harry O autographed. He was so nice and still very handsome at age 79.

The prisoners filling the cells of New York's Attica prison in 1971 faced inhumane conditions. They earned 56 cents per day for manual labor in searing workshops, were only allowed one bar of soap a month and could only shower once every two weeks. They were not allowed to read what they wanted to read and there was no due process in parole hearings. The prison population was largely black and Hispanic, controlled by an all-white guard staff. After years of agitation by civil rights activists and the black power movement, the authorities across America were beginning to push back. When tempers reached a boiling point on September 9, the prisoners erupted in a full-fledged rebellion, taking over the prison and holding it for four days, along with several guards who had been taken hostage....

In September 1971, inmates at one of America's most notorious prisons rioted and seized control of the Attica Correctional Facility in New York state. The rebellion was prompted by long-standing complaints about overcrowding and systematic racism by prison guards. Several officers were taken hostage, some were badly beaten, one fatally. Negotiations between the inmates and the authorities failed and state troopers stormed the prison shooting indiscriminately. At least 39 people were killed, including nine of the hostages. Many others were injured. Carlos Roche was a prisoner serving time for robbery and was caught up in the chaos. Witness: The stories of our times told by the people who were there. Not mine.
I left a note on my bedpost
Said not to repeat
Yesterday's mistakes
What I tend to do
When it comes to you
I see only the good
Selective memory
The way he makes me feel, yeah
Gotta hold on me
I've never met someone so different
Oh here we go
He a part of me now
He a part of me
So where you go I follow, follow, follow
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I can't remember to forget you
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I keep forgetting I should let you go
But when you look at me
The only memory is us kissing in the moonlight
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I can't remember to forget you
I can't remember to forget you
I go back again
Fall off the train
Land in his bed
Repeat yesterday's mistakes
What I'm trying to say is not to forget
You see only the good, selective memory
The way he makes me feel like
The way he makes me feel
I never seemed to act so stupid
Oh here we go
He a part of me now
He a part of me
So where he goes I follow
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I can't remember to forget you
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I keep forgetting I should let you go
But when you look at me
The only memory is us kissing in the moonlight
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I can't remember to forget you
I rob and I kill to keep him with me
I do anything for that boy
I'd give my last dime to hold him tonight
I do anything for that boy
I rob and I kill to keep him with me
I do anything for that boy
I'd give my last dime to hold him tonight
I do anything for that boy
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I can't remember to forget you
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
Oh, oh, oooh, oh
I keep forgetting I should let you go
But when you look at me
