Ghana (i/ˈɡɑːnə/), officially called the Republic of Ghana, is a sovereign unitary presidential constitutional democracy, located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in the subregion of West Africa. Spanning a land mass of 238,535 km2, Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the east and the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean in the south. The word Ghana means "Warrior King" in Mande.
The territory of present-day Ghana has been inhabited for millennia, with the first permanent state dating back to the 11th century. Numerous kingdoms and empires emerged over the centuries, of which the most powerful was the Kingdom of Ashanti. Beginning in the 15th century, numerous European powers contested the area for trading rights, with the British ultimately establishing control of the coast by the late 19th century. Following over a century of native resistance, Ghana's current borders were established by the 1900s as the British Gold Coast. In 1957, it became the first sub-saharan African nation to declare independence from European colonisation.

Tora is a traditional Dance from Dagbon pepole in Northern Ghana, performed by Tahma cultural troupe
This clip is of footage I took on my way to Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region of Ghana, when I took a tro-tro from Tamale, in the Northern Region. There are very few substantial towns along the approximately 160km drive, but Walewale is probably the biggest of the few. The tro-tro didn't stop in the town, so all the footage is taken just passing through.

Elizabeth Kanburi Bidzakin is a research analyst and social entrepreneur. She is also the founder of The Mind Shift Foundation, foundation that seeks to empower young persons from conflict prone areas through a Community Enabled Mentorship program. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at...

Partial Transcript: So one thing I noticed when I went to Accra in Ghana is that it was very dirty. There was a lot of litter on the streets. A lot of trash on the streets. And there is big ditches on the side of the roads. There are big gutters and they're open. There's like slimy green brown water in them and they smell like feces and urine and there's trash in them. It's really disgusting. And then sometimes, actually, very often I saw people going to the bathroom in these gutters on the sides of the roads. When I went to Accra one thing that surprised me as soon as I got out of the airport, it was amazing, but I saw people, especially a lot of women walking around with big containers or plates on there heads, and just walking, carrying these big large objects on their heads. I've seen...
http://www.expressoshow.com/ Graeme heads to the iconic Kaneshie Market in Accra/Ghana, to give us his survival guide for an African market. We cover various shopping tips as he explores this bustling environment. Firstly, know what you’re after and when the best time is to get it. Haggle on the price (when this is an accepted custom of the region), know your currency and value of the exchange rate. Be aware of your personal belongings, and remember your bearings (as not to get lost when you’ve finished shopping).

Travel video about nature park Keoladeo Ghana in India. Around five kilometres beyond the city of Bharatpur is one of the most fascinating wildlife reserves on the Indian subcontinent, Keoladeo Ghana. Accompanied by the park’s experienced guides, the first leg of our journey travels across a well-worn route toPython Point that, due to its population of Tiger Pythons, most assuredly lives up to its name. Despite the picturesque landscape the local maharajas were more interested in the region’s wildlife, especially the population of wild duck In the middle of the 19th century the maharajahs recognized the merits of this newly created habitat and officially declared it to be their very own hunting grounds. Unlike today, the numerous water birds of Keoladeo Ghana were not protected but instead...
