PAL-V
PAL-V EUROPE NV (Personal Air and Land Vehicle) is a Dutch company who are developing a roadable aircraft, the PAL-V ONE.
The PAL-V ONE in flight is an autogyro or gyrocopter, with a foldable pusher propeller providing forward thrust and a free-spinning rotor providing lift. Directional stability is provided by twin boom-mounted tailfins.
It has a tricycle undercarriage with relatively large wheels.
On the ground, the propeller and rotor are stopped and power is diverted to the wheels, allowing it to travel as a three-wheeled car. Unusually, it leans into turns like a motorcycle, a solution pioneered by the Carver vehicle, also produced by a Dutch company.
The PAL-V One has two seats and a 160 kW flight certified gasoline engine, giving it a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph) on land and in air, and a Maximum Takeoff Weight of 910 kg.
Operational History
A prototype model has been test flown in 2012. The company is seeking funds to develop the type for production. Estimated unit price in 2012 was around $300,000.
In May 2014 the manufacturer announced the flying car will be taken in production, with an exclusive limited edition 45 units at 500,000 euro each, with orders being taken from later that year, and first deliveries in 2016/2017.

The flying car developer announced that the PAL-V Liberty, its 3-wheel gyrocopter, is now for sale, with first deliveries expected by the end of 2018. In the air, the Liberty can climb to a maximum altitude of 3500m. Its 197hp flying engine can propel it up to a top speed of 112mph (180 kph). Who hasn’t dreamed about a flying car? Taking your car for a ride in the sky? After flying and driving the test prototypes in 2012, PAL-V started the design of the Liberty, its commercial product. Recently the Liberty passed the stringent European road admission tests and now is allowed on the streets with an official license plate.

PAL-V heeft een “vliegende auto” ontwikkeld. Een auto waarmee je zowel de weg op kunt als mee kunt opstijgen.
De auto lijkt op een helikopter maar is het niet. Het is namelijk een gyrocopter. De techniek hiervan is namelijk eenvoudiger en daarmee dus veiliger voor consumenten gebruik.
Om een vliegend voertuig te kunnen verkopen zijn natuurlijk ontzettend veel eisen, normen en certificaten nodig. PAL-V zit midden in dit proces.
Wij mogen langskomen om te kijken wat de status is. We mogen het eerste model bekijken en er eventueel de weg mee op. Tim krijgt een “spoedcursus vliegen” in de simulator en we gaan daadwerkelijk de lucht in met een Gyrocopter.

The PAL-V Liberty is the world's first production legal flying car on sale.
The flying car developer announced that the PAL-V Liberty, its 3-wheel gyrocopter, is now for sale, with first deliveries expected by the end of 2018.
In the air, the Liberty can climb to a maximum altitude of 3500m. Its 197hp flying engine can propel it up to a top speed of 112mph (180 kph).
The drive mode engine has 99 horsepower and a top speed of 100mph (160kph), with 0-62mph (100kph) sprint taking 9.0 secondes.
The standard Liberty Sport model starts at $399,000/€299,000. The Pioneer Edition, which comes with added options and is limited to 90 vehicles, costs $599,000/€499,000. Both come with introductory training lessons and power heating, according to PAL-V’s website. Operators need a gyroplane pilot’s license to fly the vehicle.

PAL-V EUROPE NV (Personal Air and Land Vehicle) is a Dutch company who are developing a roadable aircraft, the PAL-V ONE.
The PAL-V ONE in flight is an autogyro or gyrocopter, with a foldable pusher propeller providing forward thrust and a free-spinning rotor providing lift. Directional stability is provided by twin boom-mounted tailfins.
It has a tricycle undercarriage with relatively large wheels.
On the ground, the propeller and rotor are stopped and power is diverted to the wheels, allowing it to travel as a three-wheeled car. Unusually, it leans into turns like a motorcycle, a solution pioneered by the Carver vehicle, also produced by a Dutch company.
The PAL-V One has two seats and a 160 kW flight certified gasoline engine, giving it a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph) on land and in air, and a Maximum Takeoff Weight of 910 kg.
Operational History
A prototype model has been test flown in 2012. The company is seeking funds to develop the type for production. Estimated unit price in 2012 was around $300,000.
In May 2014 the manufacturer announced the flying car will be taken in production, with an exclusive limited edition 45 units at 500,000 euro each, with orders being taken from later that year, and first deliveries in 2016/2017.
