Cole David Aldrich (born October 31, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He completed his junior year at the University of Kansas in March 2010. Aldrich was selected as a McDonald's All American in 2006. He attended Bloomington Jefferson High School. The New Orleans Hornets selected Aldrich eleventh overall in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft.
Aldrich attended Bloomington Jefferson High School in Bloomington, Minnesota. As a senior, he was named state player of the year by the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, Aldrich was listed as the No. 6 center and the No. 30 player in the nation in 2007.
During the 2007–08 season at Kansas, Aldrich's freshman season, his playing time was limited due to playing behind future NBA draft picks Darrell Arthur, Sasha Kaun, and Darnell Jackson. He averaged three rebounds and 2.8 points a game on 8.3 minutes a game during the regular season. Statistically, Aldrich's best performance was an 11-point, 11-rebound outing in a win over Texas Tech on March 3, 2008. Probably the most crucial game for Aldrich was during the Final Four game between Kansas and North Carolina on April 5, 2008, when he played only 16 minutes but managed to grab 8 rebounds and score 7 points along with blocking 4 shots while also playing effective defense against National Player of the Year Tyler Hansbrough, helping lead Kansas into the NCAA national championship game. They then defeated the Memphis Tigers to win their first Championship since 1988.
That's it. DeAndre Jordan's 360-game streak ends thanks to a made-up non-disease called "pneumonia". I just looked it up and it doesn't exist. There's probably some deeper conspiracy going on here, but honestly, I got tired of doing investigative reporting after I found out some stuff about Andrea Bargnani and pasta smuggling rings. Don't ask. If you knew, they'd have to kill you like they tried to kill me. Let's just say that Primo pasta and sauce isn't so "primo". So who gets to start in place of the "sick" DeAndre Jordan? Cole "Aldrich Horror" Aldrich, of course! This game simply proves what we already knew, that Chris Paul can make any big man look decent as long as said big man has semi-soft hands and some sort of mobility. Aldrich is probably still a bust, but his ability to perform...
Cole Aldrich is the answer to the eternal question of "What would you get if you took Greg Stiemsma and made him better at basketball but not too much better?". There are other questions that he is also the answer to; but none of those questions are as profound as this one. On an unrelated note, it's really weird seeing Chris Paul throw passes to a center who can actually catch them. Sure, DeAndre Jordan can catch lobs, but that's about it. Trying to use him in any other way only ends in sadness. Cole, on the other hand, has soft yet firm hands for grabbing balls directed towards him. And he knows what to do with the balls when he gets them. All clips property of the NBA. No copyright infringement is intended.
The last time Cole Aldrich started a game for the Clippers, he was playing with Chris Paul and it was a dunk festival (colloquially known as a "dunkfest"). I say "last time" loosely because I'm looking at his game log and it turns out he started a game in late March. Forget about the game. The game I'm talking about is where Aldrich scored nineteen because DeAndre Jordan had pneumonia (a made-up disease by the way). That game I attributed to Chris Paul's point-god status, rather than Aldrich's own abilities as a basketball player. If you told me he was starting another game but had to play with Pablo Prigioni and Jamal Crawford as the primary distributors, I would predict maybe ten points for Aldrich, tops. Probably six. Absolutely, under no circumstances whatsoever, would he score more t...
It's over, Knicks fans. It's over! You can live your lives again free from the persistent anger and frustration that has been clouding your emotions for the past six months. Your season from hell ends in the most appropriate fashion, with a career-high for a player who nobody thought would get any minutes at all. With STAT, Bargnani, and Dalembert (LOL), why would Fisher ever need to call upon the gap-toothed Cole Aldrich? Oh, how things change. But even as they change, they stay the same. The Knicks' consistent futility can be counted on just as we count on the sun to rise in the sky every morning. The offseason will feature the signing of mediocre free agents, the drafting of a player who might not even be good right away, discussions about the utility of the triangle offense, and headl...

-- footage of freshman Cole Aldrich vs. North Carolina in the 2008 Final Four -- Aldrich logged 8 points, 7 rebounds, & 4 blocks in 16 minutes
Normally when I say "Career High" in a video title it means points. But in this case it means points, rebounds, and blocks. Cole Aldrich was having the best game of his life, BY FAR. Dude got a career high in career highs. This one good game doesn't change the fact that his career has been a huge disappointment as the 11th pick in 2010. Maybe he just needs more minutes? Or a better situation? Either way, he's definitely turned a corner, and at a good time too, with 2 games remaining for the Kings. All clips property of the NBA. No copyright infringement is intended.
