Spamming continues, with a name variant to evade the filter: 109.112.131.182 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · edit filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), 31.157.59.23 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · edit filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log).

Can someone help with Special:AbuseFilter/773 please? Needs to be ra(n)|(m)pini but with paolo either before or after. My RegEx-fu is not strong enough to do this confidently without breaking shit. Thanks. Guy (Help!) 22:20, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

Moved from my test filter to Special:AbuseFilter/800. I'll take a look when I get a second from work! -- samtar talk or stalk 09:46, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Batch test against Dugu Miniautotoys shows it'd hit the above IP contribs - @JzG: are you wanting this to disallow the additions or just log them? -- samtar talk or stalk 09:53, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Disallow, please. This spammer has become boring. Guy (Help!) 11:47, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Should IPs which persistently trip the filter be blocked? User:Mr.Z-bot/filters.js is a function that reports users tripping the specified filters to WP:AIV, but the bot seems to be offline recently. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:51, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Yes, but the spammer is IP-hopping. 93.68.199.100 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · edit filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) today, which I think should have triggered the filter? Guy (Help!) 15:33, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
@JzG: it disallowed logged a couple from that IP - I'll switch it to disallow -- samtar talk or stalk 15:35, 18 October 2016 (UTC)
Great, thanks. Yes, I know, I could have done that myself, but edit filters can cause drama and am not that good with regex. Guy (Help!) 18:37, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Deferred Changes RfC - implications for edit filters[edit]

FYI, the Deferred changes RfC has been closed with a consensus to implement the proposal, including the deferring of edits that match some edit filters. Sam Walton (talk) 23:43, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Importing private filters into another Wiki[edit]

Hello, I'm an administrator of the Romanian Wikipedia and also an abuse filter editor there, as it can be seen here. Are there any ways to import private filters into another Wiki? If not, is there any way that I can see some of them in order to adapt them to my local Wiki? Thanks in advance.Ionutzmovie (talk) 05:05, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

@Xaosflux: (et al.) Given the above and the clear understanding of filter syntax (example 1 (rowp), example 2 (rowp)) - would it be worth assigning the EFM bit (temporarily?) to allow exporting? -- samtar talk or stalk 11:23, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
It should be OK. But you could also privately email them the filters they want. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:53, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Filters can be exported and imported using the filter tools, it does not matter if they are private or not. enwiki has >50 private filters and there is no local group to give "read" access to these. We certainly can email you some exports, is there a specific type of filter you are interested in? — xaosflux Talk 12:48, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
@Xaosflux:, @Graeme Bartlett:, I can't see the filters and I don't see any option locally or on en:wiki to import them. Can anybody e-mail me the filters I listed here. It would be very helpful, since we are a small comunity and many malicious edits are discovered even after years.Ionutzmovie (talk) 21:06, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
  • I'm going to give Ionutzmovie temporary EFM access for this export (I was going to just import them to rowiki, but they have no 'crats and would need a steward to get involved to add EFM over there). Ionutzmovie, do not make any changed on enwiki. Verified that Ionutzmovie is +sysop,+efm on rowiki. — xaosflux Talk 21:17, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
Added for one week. — xaosflux Talk 21:21, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I will not make any changes to en:wp filters. At ro wiki I see the same problems every day, this filters will help us a lot. I will also hide them at my local Wiki.Ionutzmovie (talk) 21:23, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Captcha + Edit Filters[edit]

I thought this problem got fixed a while ago, but we currently have a serious issue of users who should only be warned being indefinitely bounced between an edit filter warning and the captcha. I don't have time to look into this in detail now (I just saw it happen, in person, to another user) so any help testing this would be helpful. We should probably remove the warning function of any active edit filters; they may currently be disallowing a large number of edits. Sam Walton (talk) 16:12, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

Ok it's not as bad as it seems (no need to disable any filters). Expected behaviour is that the user only needs to enter the captcha once and acknowledge the warning once. What actually happens is the user is asked to enter a captcha, enters it correctly and clicks save, gets the warning with no captcha present, then is asked to enter a 2nd captcha, and then clicking save will save the edit. Warnings for Possible BLP issue or vandalism[edit]

MediaWiki:Tag-possible libel or vandalism-description shows three filters, from which only 39 gives a warning from what I understand by this. Why don't the other two give a notification to the said editor triggering it? It should also be a specific notification on BLP rather than just the generic one. Community wishlist needs your votes![edit]

The 2016 Community Wishlist voting is currently underway, and there's an AbuseFilter wish. Specifically, one to return the per-filter resource tracking that we lost some time ago. Please vote if you think this is important (which as an edit filter manager you really should!) Sam Walton (talk) 09:30, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

lowercase sigmabot III not archiving Talk:Economy of Brazil[edit]

I was looking over the edit filter log and saw that lowercase sigmabot III keeps tripping Special:AbuseFilter/702 when trying to archive Talk:Economy of Brazil. I've set up ClueBot III to archive the page. —MRD2014 (talkcontribs) 00:42, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
