When love fades away! Former Honeymoon Capital of the World is now eerily abandoned as iconic heart-shaped jacuzzis now sit empty and its circular beds are covered in rubble

  • The Pocono Mountains, in northeastern Pennsylvania, were popular for honeymooners in the 1960s and 1970s
  • Several hotels had heart-shaped jacuzzis, sparking the craze for couples to visit the secluded mountains
  • Views were spectacular with a landscape of rolling mountains, waterfalls and thickets of green forests
  • After honeymooners opted for more tropical getaways, the resorts closed in the 1980s through early 2000s
  • The abandoned resorts served as a hideout to fugitive Eric Frein, who was on the Most Wanted list in 2014

Once hot resorts for couples to celebrate their newlywed bliss, these hotels from the former Honeymoon Capital of the World not sit abandoned and covered in debris.

For brides and grooms that just got hitched in the 1960s and 1970s, nothing was more romantic than a honeymoon in the Pocono Mountains, hidden away in northeastern Pennsylvania.

The view was spectacular with a landscape of rolling mountains, waterfalls and thickets of green forests and the secluded feeling was perfect for lovebirds.

However as time went on, couples' love waned thin and they soon replaced the lush forests for more tropical destinations, and the havens began to decline steeply in customers.

Now the once popular resorts are ghosts of the pasts, as its famous heart-shaped jacuzzis sit empty, pools are filled with murky green water and once-trendy bars are covered in shattered glass, as taken in these haunting pictures by photographer Seph Lawless.

To add to the resorts' creepy feels, several retreats served as a hideout to FBI's Most Wanted fugitive Eric Frein, who scribbled anti-police manifestos on walls.
