Moving homes can be a challenging process due to the number of tasks that are involved. From packing up each room of the home to safely transporting the belongings, it can make for a difficult transition. Fortunately, there are a few tips to follow when you want to enjoy a successful move.

1. Color Code Each Room

Make it easy to keep items that belong in the same room together by color coding each box. Use duct tape and colored markers to label the boxes and make it easy to determine which room they go in when unloading everything into the new home.

2. Hire Professional Movers

Instead of attempting to lift heavy items yourself, opt for hiring professional movers to help you with the process and make it easier to transport the items. The movers will bring their own supplies and truck to ensure that you have what you need on hand. This will also reduce the risk of injury to help you stay safe by leaving the heavy lifting to the professionals.

3. Purge Before Packing

Make it a point to purge your home before you pack everything into moving boxes. Go through each bedroom and closet to remove clothes, children’s toys, and decor that are no longer needed. Make it a rule to throw out items that haven’t been used in the last year and sell or donate the personal belongings. This will make it easier to have fewer items to pack to ensure that you don’t need a larger moving truck.

4. Hire Motorcycle Transportation Services

One of the most common challenges that can come with moving is transporting a motorcycle. Consider hiring motorcycle transport services to have the bike shipped to your new location and protect it from damage. Other motorized sporting equipment that you own can also be transported, which includes jet skis and ATVs.

5. Use Clothes to Wrap Dishes

Save money on bubble wrap by using scarves, socks, and clothes to wrap dishes in to prevent the items from breaking. This will make it easier to utilize more space in the moving boxes. Plates should also be packed vertically to reduce the amount of pressure that is applied.

When you want to have a successful move, there are a few tips to follow to ensure that you can transport everything efficiently. With the right steps and tools used, you’ll avoid stress and can settle in quickly into your new home.

Always Use Good Judgement On The Road

Driving is not an easy task.  We always have to be very aware of what’s going on on the road. We should be very attentive and should look through the side and rear view mirrors once every 10 seconds.  I learned that from my driving instructor at a driving school in Fort Worth.

On the road, you will never know what’s gonna happen.  So it is very important to be ready and use your good judgement in every driving situation.  For example, if you are driving on the right lane on an Interstate highway where the Left Lane is for Passing Only and someone’s driving on that lane slower than the speed limit, the possibility of backing up the traffic is high.  If that driver won’t keep up with the speed limit or won’t speed up to move over in front of you, you just have to speed up a little so the cars behind will be able to have the chance to pass him or her.

I experienced that situation when I was going out of town.  I had to speed up ahead a little to let the traffic on the left lane move over to my lane (right) so they can pass the slow moving car on the left (passing) lane.  Many drivers out there are just inconsiderate a**holes. So as a friendly advice, it is VERY IMPORTANT to pay attention at all times. In addition, you MUST NOT engaged to or AVOID or might as well QUIT) bad habits such as:

  • using cellphones while driving
  • putting make-up on while driving
  • playing music very loud
  • eating while driving
  • overspeeding
  • driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol
  • being aggressive on the road

I admit I was guilty with the first and last before.  But I overcame them.  I love myself and my family as much I love my life.

Vacation in Punta Cana- Special Things to do

The Caribbean country of the Dominican Republic is a fantastic tropical island destination that offers white sand beaches to stroll along, great seafood dishes to try, water sport activities galore, friendly locals and spa opportunities. In addition, the Punta Cana hotels are hard to beat with great prices throughout the year and with most offering spectacular views. If you’re thinking about planning a trip to this island escape, you’ll find that there are plenty of activities and attractions to choose from, making it so that you’ll have trouble deciding which ones to partake in. To help you decide, here’s a list of some of the best things to do.

Go Golfing

If you love a good game of golf, you’ll find plenty of those around here. In fact, Punta Cana is known for its beautiful ocean front golf courses that offer views of the Caribbean ocean during your entire golf game. You’ll also find that most of the courses were designed by top golf designers, making for some rather good games. Most courses also offer drinks and food, as well as a club house of some sort.

Manati Park

A half day activity, Manati Park is great for the entire family with lots of different birds and reptiles on display. Here you’ll find a Taino dance performance and a playful parrot show along with flamingo, iguana and crocodile exhibits.  Prices here are a bit on the high side, but in the end worth the cost.

Ziplining

There are several companies within Punta Cana that offer ziplining tours, and all of them seem to get great reviews. If you’re not afraid of heights, or at least looking to get over that fear, then ziplining through the jungle is perfect for you. Generally these tours last a few hours and are a great way to build up an appetite before heading to the beach for some lunch.

Whale Watching Tours

During part of the year, hundreds of humpback whales gather in the Samana Bay, offering guests and locals alike a chance to see these gentle beauties up close and personal. On a whale watching tour, you’ll board a boat where the crew’s knowledge about whales will be on display the entire time, allowing you to ask questions about their behavior, size, eating patterns and migration paths. This is a great opportunity to learn more about these creatures and tours are kid friendly.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding is great for those who don’t mind strolling along beaches, on jungle paths and through town. With a horseback riding tour, you’ll find yourself enjoying some time in nature as you take in the area from a different point of view. These tours also vary in time length, making them an easy activity to fit into your day.

Remember, the longer you make your trip, the more activities you’ll be able to enjoy. This means that even though weekends getaways are great, a week or two in the country will allow for a lot more exploring.
