In my experience this is a disappointing Chinese Pearl River piano GP142 , GP 142 , GP-142 and I feel that from my experience that this piano should not be sold to anyone. It only had one years warranty and had terrible problems I was unable to get the manufacturers Pearl River Pianos nor the importer to contribute to resolving the issues that I had with the piano. Download the original document here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlzbomyu0uxtqku/Waldstein_GP142_Report_2007_02_05_YT.pdf?dl=0 "In my opinion the piano has quite a few problems and I will list these below:- - The main lid has a very long crack in the polyester on the underside. - There is buzzing arising from the bass strings, A1 - D#7, seven notes in total. - Higher up the base notes G#24, A25, A#26 and B27 have a very poor tone with harsh harmonics. - E37 has a very metallic tone. - All the treble is generally very harsh with an uneven tone, noticeable overtones and harmonics making it sound very unpleasant. - The action is producing a log of noise due to roller friction on the Lever tops and there is also a lot of squeaking occurring from the keys due to friction on the balance pin bushings. - In summary I feel this piano has far too many unacceptable faults for an instrument of this age which is advertised as being of "high quality" and which is still under warranty." I feel Pearl River and intermusicltd did not cooperate fully with me in sorting this out and I sold it for less than half the price I bought it. From £5200 to £1900. "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" My grandmother left me £5000 in her will. She had paid for my piano lessons in my childhood. So I felt particularly distressed that I wasted this money on something that I experienced as less than satisfactory. I feel that the late Richard Webb of Intermusic Ltd did not commit to resolving my complaint. To quote "Chinese pianos now account for 20 per cent of new pianos sold in the UK, according to the late Richard Webb, managing director of Intermusic and intermusicltd, the largest importer of musical instruments in the UK. He is a distributor for Pearl River, China's principal piano brand, but the instruments are rebadged as Steinbach or Waldstein for the UK market.
