Stuck in the OCEAN on an OCEAN LINER with full amenities and in no danger. "It's a bloody nightmare" "The mood on board is dire"

To be fair, Bass Strait is pretty notorious, it is quite shallow so waters are very fast in the area and Victoria does have a huge section of it named Shipwreck Coast...

But this should be fine.

It will be fine. Tugs would be on scene by now.

She said all guests would get a full refund, as well as a 50 per cent future cruise credit.

I think that might have something to do with it...

Tracker for the ship

Looks like maybe Tom Tough is on the way out to fetch it back.

Tracker for the ship

welp i know how my next few hours are going now.

That's pretty damn cool. Rather amazing how much sea traffic is out and about. I mean it's not surpirsing in the slightest but it's extremely interesting to see on a map.

Yeah, isn't it.

Turns out Hastings has also been sent. I wish I could figure an ETA for them to pull it back to port, it's going to be after sunrise tomorrow morning you'd think?

iI's moving at 10 knots and has a fair way to go; it would be much slower on the way back too no doubt. tomorrow morning would be the earliest perhaps.

btw, holy shit... go look at china, the amount of marine traffic there is mind blowing. Hong Kong and Shanghai in particular.

The Hong Kong container port has a throughput of 55,000 TEU (1 TEU is equivalent to 1 20ft container) per day, which is a mindblowing figure.

The North Sea/English Channel is another cool place to look.

'Underway Using Engine' as of 10:41. So that's a start. Both tugs present.

I was chatting to a couple of cruisers on Wednesday - they said their ship had been having engine trouble for a while, they'd already missed a couple of ports and would be staying in Melbourne for an extra day so the company could make repairs. I wonder if it was the same ship.
