When it comes to his girls, this country crooner does not take any chances.

Tim McGraw has revealed he goes to great - and slightly scary lengths - to make sure the boys who take out his daughters do not try to pull any funny business.

The 49-year-old singer revealed his approach to his daughters dating as he and wife Faith Hill appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday.

The couple's two oldest girls Gracie, 19, and Maggie, 18, are away at college while Audrey, 15, is still at home.

As they step into the world of adulthood, one thing their parents discussed was what happens when they bring a boyfriend home.

Tim, 49, is all for his girls going on a date - with one small catch.

He jokingly said that he likes to have his sledgehammer with him, just to be safe.

Speaking of what happened when the girls went to a winter formal dance, he told Ellen: 'There was a bunch of kids in a limousine. And I had a sledgehammer over my shoulder, but that was on purpose.'

'You don't want to be mean, but when someone's taking your daughter somewhere, you want to induce a healthy amount of respect - and fear.'

As for how Faith feels about this, she playfully mentioned that she's all for this.

'I was a little soft on it. And after when you go through it the first time- those of you who have daughters out there- all of a sudden I just became this animal, like, ''Do it. Take the sledgehammer,''' she said with a laugh. 'Whatever you have to do, do it!'

Faith then added that her daughter Audrey would love to live with Ellen, which wouldn't be a bad idea since has a 'very clean room.'

The country stars then dished on their upcoming Soul 2 Soul world tour beginning this April, their first tour in 10 years.

Their first show will be in New Orleans; since Tim is from Louisiana and Faith is from Mississippi, there will be plenty of loved ones in the area.

The stars then played the game of Never Have I Ever when Ellen asked them some personal questions on what they have or have not done in the two decades they've been married.

A couple of these included if one of them has used their spouse's toothbrush without telling the other and if they've ever fallen asleep during 'sexy time.'
