Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison have split up again.

The 22-year-old confirmed on Friday she and her 56-year-old husband are no longer together.

The reality star had added fuel to rumours their marriage was on the rocks the night before when she arrived to OK! Magazine's pre-Grammy event alone and sans wedding ring.

'Unfortunately they're true,' she replied when asked about the reports.

'It's hard right now but we're trying to individually find our happiness. It's just really sad right now.'

The couple first met in controversial circumstances in 2011, when the then-16-year-old signed up for online acting classes with the former X-Files star.

They were married in May of that year, just a week shy of Hutchison's 51st birthday.

In November 2013 they split up; he continued to manage her career, and they continued to reside together, before the reconciled the following August.

In May last year the pair announced they were expecting their first child together; however Courtney suffered a miscarriage three months into her pregnancy.

The TV personality recently told podcast Allegedly that she previously legally separated from Doug because she needed to 'sow my wild oats.'

She said: 'I [had] just recently finished a stint on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK and I think I turned 19 on the show and I was in the house for about a month and it was the first time I was away from Doug.

'After I got off the show, I was like, ''You know what, I need to sow my wild oats. I need to go out. I need to date. I need to screw," so that was basically the primary reason for that separation and we were separated for about a year maybe,' she said.

But she conceded that after getting it out of her system she realized that Doug was an 'incredible man.'

'I think when a couple faces a difficult trial in life together, whatever that may be, it either tears you apart or brings you together,' she said.

'And I think right now we're kind of in the kind of crossroad point where we're trying to figure it out.'

Courtney's mother Krista Keller - who originally gave her blessing to the union - recently admitted she know thinks it was a mistake.

'I don't think it is a very healthy [relationship]. I don't think it has turned into a healthy one,' Krista told the site.
