- Samsung sent a press invite to an event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
- The invite features a picture of a mysterious device that could be a tablet
- Rumours suggest the tablet could be the Galaxy Tab S3
Samsung has hinted that it may be unveiling a new tablet at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona later this month.
An official press invite has been sent out, which features a picture of a mysterious device that seemingly confirms the launch of a tablet.
The invitation comes shortly after Samsung admitted it would not be revealing its S8 smartphone at MWC, following problems with the Note 7 battery.
The press invite states that the Samsung Press Conference will be held at Mobile World Congress in Barcelon on February 26
The official Samsung invite says: 'Samsung Press Conference, Feb 26 2017', above a picture of what could be the new tablet.
The image shows a physical home button just below the display, and looks similar to the Galaxy Tab S2, which was released in 2015.
Within hours of the press invitation being sent, rumours have circulated that the device could be the Galaxy Tab S3.
According to Naver News, the tablet will feature a 9.7-inch display, with a screen resolution of 2048x1536 pixels.
The tablet could feature 4GB of Ram, and a Snapdragon 820 processor.
And it is likely to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and come in both Wi-Fi and LTE models.
In terms of pricing, Naver News estimates that the Galaxy Tab S3 will cost around £475 ($600) at launch, and will go on sale in March.
Samsung is yet to reveal any official details about the device shown in the press invitiation.
Last week, Samsung announced that it will not unveil its Galaxy S8 smartphone at MWC as expected.
The image in the invitation shows a physical home button just below the display, and looks similar to the Galaxy Tab S2 (pictured), which was released in 2015
The make or break handset will be the firm's first flagship launch since the disastrous Galaxy Note 7 launch, which led to a £3.5bn ($4.5bn) recall.
Samsung mobile chief Koh Dong-jin confirmed the phone would not get a launch at the MWC event unlike the previous Galaxy S smartphones.
Koh did not comment on when the company planned to launch the new handset which will be the first premium model Samsung is due to release since the failure of its Note 7 flagship device in October over safety issues.
