What's even better than chowing down on lovingly baked sweet treats? Being able to order them direct to your house, without even having to put clothes on.

It was exactly that which inspired Renee Douros to launch The Sugar Deli. The new Canberra-based digital dessert parlour has been teasing the public with drool-worth snaps on Instagram for weeks, and from February 8, they'll be open for business.

Douros, who also runs Hooray! Magazine and The Floral Society in Kingston, was inspired to launch The Sugar Deli while she was pregnant.

"I've got a sweet tooth, and I had a really horrible pregnancy towards the end so I just wasn't very mobile," she said.

"I'd want dessert and I'd be at home on the lounge in the middle of summer in my undies, and I'd send my fiance out at all random times to like Erindale from Kingston to get Goodberry's, just really stupid things like that."

"I thought to myself, 'why doesn't anyone do something where I can log on, it's a seamless process, I don't have to talk to anyone, just get online pay with my card, and have desserts delivered to me and I don't actually have to put clothes on."

Enter the Sugar Deli, an online dessert parlour with same-day delivery service in Canberra.

They have a menu of six items which changes every week - it's revealed online every Monday. The menu has a nostalgic feel, with the sort of goodies you might have once found at a kid's birthday party, but given an adult upgrade.

Expect everything from donuts with outrageous toppings, marshmallow cones, cupcakes, lamingtons, brownies and cookies. The menu also features low gluten and vegan options.

In the kitchen is Joss Mustard, who has taken a career change to pursue her passion for baking.

"I was installing auto-doors, so I was a lady tradie - it's a bit of a change," she said.

"I love baking so I used to post stuff on Facebook of things that I'd bake and I'd baked a couple of times for Renee before and she approached me and asked if I would like to come on board. So I'm excited, I love being in the kitchen every day."

Deliveries are available from 10am-9pm Monday to Friday, and you can choose either a general morning, middle of the day or afternoon/evening delivery timeslot, or choose delivery on demand which will arrive within 90 minutes.

Treats average from $4-$6, with $8 delivery fee if you choose a delivery window, or $16 for on demand.

Deliveries start on Wednesday February 8 and treats are available at thesugardeli.com.au.
