Omar Regan

Omar Laquon Regan (born June 12, 1975) is an American stand-up comedian, actor and former musician.

Early life

Regan was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States and was raised in Highland Park, Michigan to African American parents. Regan did not know his biological father. When he was five years old, his mother, Toya Monet Regan (born 1952), converted to Islam from Christianity, and married Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah (born Christopher Thomas in 1956). Subsequently Regan was raised as a Muslim.

Music career

Regan started his career as a musician and started writing songs at the age of nine. He formed the group S.O.A (Servants of Allah) with his brother at the age of 11 and performed their first show at the age of 12. They opened for artists including Redman, Method Man, Wu-Tang Clan, KRS-One, Royce da 5'9", Proof, and Eminem.

In 1999, they were offered a single record deal with Tommy Boy Records but turned it down in hope of a better contract. However, no deal was made and the brothers focused on solo careers.

London

Suhaib Webb

Suhaib Webb is an American Muslim imam who is currently the imam of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC).

Biography

Early life

He was born William Webb in 1973 in Oklahoma to a Christian family, including a grandfather who served as a preacher. At age 14, he lost interest in religion, going through a self-described spiritual crisis. He also began engaging in delinquency by joining a local gang and became a local Hip-Hop DJ and producer, making records with various artists.

Education

After converting to Islam in 1992, Webb left his career as a DJ and studied at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. He also studied privately under a Senegalese Sheikh, learning enough Islam and Arabic to become a community leader in Oklahoma City, where he was hired as Imam at the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. He simultaneously started teaching at Mercy School, an Islamic K-12 school in Oklahoma City.

Career

Webb is an active member of the Muslim American Society and its youth department and has been so for the last ten years. It is through the Muslim American Society's scholarship program that he was sent to Egypt to attain fluency in Arabic and focus on Islamic studies. Webb frequently hosts lectures and posts articles offering Islamic perspectives on modern-day issues such as community involvement and social relevance.

Regan

Regan is an Anglicized form of the Irish surname Ó Riagáin ("son of Riagán") derived from the Irish personal name Riagán, which means "little king". It is also a unisex given name.

In 2005 Regan was on the main stage at The World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywod and got the attention of talents scouts, soon after Regan appeared on E!'s reality series, "Fight for Fame," and won a theatrical contract with Acme Talent Agency. The new show didn't get picked up for a second season and a year later Regan was representing himself once again. Regan is now international known, winning over audiences as far as London, Edinburgh, Australia and Toronto. He has appeared in films including "Internet Dating" alongside Katt Williams and "Life is Hot in Cracktown," alongside, Evan Ross, and Kerry Washington. Regan uses entertainment and humor to promote tolerance and diversity, and to build bridges across racial, religious, and social divides. As an African-American Muslim entertainer, Regan offers a unique perspective on everyday life, his mission statement is an acronym of his last name, Reflect Excellence, Gratitude And Nur (Light) REGAN. We are in need of volunteers at all levels: Managers, Team Leaders, Security, Trainers, Community Leaders, Ushers, Web Developers, Designers, Marketing majors, Future thinkers, Financial Contributors, Fundraising Managers, Fundraising volunteers, Awareness volunteers (through online, emails, forums, blogs, etc...), Positive thinkers and Positive motivation speakers, etc... We are asking people of all faiths to come forward as Eid is a Feast celebration for all in the community. Eid celebration, when done correctly, is inclusive of people in the communities regardless of their beliefs. It is a natural, joyous and uniting festival prescribed in Islam so to create cultural and community cohesion and we want everyone to be part of it. This is not a project for just one team or organization rather it is an obligation upon us all to work together and feel each one of us own a part of this amazing movement. In a handful of years we hope to revive the Sunnah and have Eid celebrated correctly in all of the UK. We hope within a decade to have over 100,000 celebrate at the Excel centre or a similar venue along side scores of parks where local Masajid may unite with their community. Within our lives we hope that the UK finally establishes the Eid Holidays as a national bank holiday for us all. It is our right! Though it is our right please note that the government will not respond unless YOU the public demand it through letters and being side by side at the 1Eid events. If the events are not completely packed out it will show not enough people want the holiday and thus we cannot achieve the goals. These are your goals and we must work together to achieve them.
