16 December 2009 - SBS has signed a three-year deal with multi award winning Blackfella
Films, continuing the partnership that produced the landmark
documentary series First Australians. The production and development deal will result in a slate of four
major drama and documentary projects to be delivered over the next
three years.
15 December - SBS today called for nominations from charities and
not-for-profits to share in $2 million worth of television airtime the
SBS Foundation will donate during 2010.
29 November 2009 - SBS today announced that it had reached agreement with FOXTEL and
AUSTAR to launch a new channel focused on arts and entertainment on the
FOXTEL and AUSTAR platforms.
6 November 2009 - The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy today announced the appointment of Mr Joseph Skrzynski AO as the new Chair of SBS.
22 January 2009 - SBS will create a Foundation to be custodian of $2 million worth of
television airtime which will be donated to support charities and
charitable causes, SBS Managing Director Shaun Brown announced today.
28 January 2009 - SBS's audience share continued to rise in 2008 with the network
achieving its best ever primetime share of people 16+ - 6.2 per cent,
up from 6 per cent in 2007*.
18 February 2009 - SBS today called for applications for a career-enhancing mentorship
award that will offer support, guidance and opportunities to emerging
Indigenous talent in the Australian film and television industry.

21 May 2009 - SBS today announced a new focus on audience engagement through the
establishment of an Engagement marketing team and two new appointments.
7 May 2009 - In partnership with Regional Arts Australia, SBS will today launch a
series of unique vignettes that showcase the depth of arts talent
across regional Australia.
8 May 2009 - SBS is pleased to announce the winner of the first annual SBS
Indigenous TV Mentorship Award. Eileen Nganayamea Torres was awarded
the prize at Message Sticks at the Sydney Opera House last night.
