For a long period it seemed Australia had won the night. They had scraped enough points out of the last race of the night to be just clear of Usain Bolt's All Stars and to have squared the series with the champion's team.
It seemed incongruous that they could have done so, but for a long period it seemed Australia had won the second night of the Nitro series. Bolt was indignant.

Usain Bolt's All-Star team have won a controversial second round in the Nitro Athletics Series at Lakeside Stadium in Melbourne.
The Australians had finished last in the final event of the night, the sprint relay against Bolt and his team, but were disqualified for a terrible baton change.
The initial advice was that despite the disqualification the Australians would still earn points for finishing last. Crowds left the stadium and turned off the TV coverage believing Australia had won.
Bolt was not happy with second place and the injustice of the result.
"It makes no sense, they say you false start in a race and you lose 20 points but you are still in the race. But you get DQ'd and you don't lose any points? That doesn't makes any sense," Bolt said, insisting he would challenge the ruling (in Nitro there is no formal protest system).

"They beat us by like 15 so all we needed was them to lose by 20 points and we'd be fine. I need to figure out what is going on there.
"I don't know what happened I thought if you got DQ'd you'd be out for sure."

The first ruling of the race was that the bad baton change between Jack Hale and Fabrice Lapierre, which was well out of the hand-over box, was like a pole vaulter who records no height and finishes last: they still get points for last place.
A belated double-check of the rules corrected that first ruling to clarify that a disqualified team would have points deducted.

So Australia dropped from first to second place. Bolt's All Stars won the second night like the first. Australia remains able to win the Nitro series on the third and final night, but it is a lot harder after that disqualification.
The champion sprinter's team again left their push until the last event â which fortuitously for them was a powerplay event that earned them double points. With Bolt and Asafa Powell in the team they were assured of victory the issue was only if Australia could earn points.

Bolt said that on Saturday night he would need to run two events. He is likely run the 150m as well as the relay.
"We have to have a team meeting but I have already told a few of the guys we have to double up on Saturday. I probably have to double up. We will see what happens," he said..

"I don't like the fact we are leaving it that late every night (to win the night) so we are going to have to double up and try and get the points on the board.
"If we need to do it I will probably run the 150 because the 100 metres is not going to run Saturday."
