"All of This" is a song by American rock band Blink-182 from the band's fifth studio album, Blink-182 (2003). The song is a collaboration with musician Robert Smith, frontman of the English rock band The Cure. Lyrically, the song is inspired by a story from producer Jerry Finn's adolescence, in which he was humiliated by a girl he had fallen in love with.
The song was frequently cited as a highlight on the album and received positive reviews. "All of This" was briefly considered to be the album's fifth single, but the idea was shelved when the band broke up in 2005.
"All of This," as well as the song it segues from, "Easy Target," were based on a story from producer Jerry Finn's middle school years. Finn was in love with a female classmate, Holly, who invited him over, only for have her and her friend drench him with a hose; humiliated, he rode home on his bicycle.
The song was musically inspired by The Cure song "The Love Cats" (as was "I Miss You"), and the band decided to reach out to The Cure frontman Robert Smith by phone. The trio did not anticipate he would go for it, considering the band's reputation. Smith, for his part, was bemused as to how he would fit into Blink-182's sound: "I'd heard a couple of singles," he later told Blender, "but I couldn't really see how I could sing on anything or write any words. But the demos for the album that eventually came out were fantastic. I think they suffer in a way that we [The Cure] suffered in that people weren't allowing them to become something else. If another band put that new CD out as their first album, people would go crazy." As for their legitimacy, Smith gave the band advice: "Nobody knows what kind of songs you are going to write in the future and nobody knows the full potential of any band. I really like the music you sent me."
The Naked was a Danish indie-rock band that existed from the end of the 1980s and disbanded in 1999. The band started out under the name Naked Lunch, later shortening the name to Naked, and finally to The Naked.
The band was formed by Kasper Andersen (vocal, guitar) and Jacob Als Thomsen (guitar), who met in high school in the mid-eighties. Andersen started out as drummer, but switched to guitar after Thomsen left temporarily to study abroad. At this time guitarist Anders Reuss and bass player Søren Rohde had joined. The band rehearsed with a drum machine until Emil Landgreen joined the band as a drummer in the summer of 1990, coinciding with the return of Thomsen. This line-up started playing regularly on the Copenhagen underground scene from late 1990. At the time of the band's first album, Søren Rohde had left to be replaced by Andreas Koch on bass. During the recording Landgreen left to join Speaker Bite Me and was replaced by Rene Thorny. Astrid Bruun Johansen joined on viola after the second album.

The Naked and Famous are an indie electronic band from Auckland, New Zealand. They formed in 2007 when Thom Powers and Alisa Xayalith were working on what became the EPs This Machine and No Light that they recorded with engineer Aaron Short, a fellow student at Auckland's MAINZ music college. The band took their name from the English artist Tricky's song "Tricky Kid", which is ambivalent about the notion of celebrity. In the song, Tricky quotes the line "everybody wants to be naked and famous", from The Presidents of the United States of America's song "Naked and Famous".
The EPs were subsequently released on local independent label Round Trip Mars and Powers and Xayalith began performing live with Ben Knapp and Jordan Clark on bass and drums respectively. Aaron Short became a performing member of the group. Knapp and Clark left the group and Jesse Wood (drums) and David Beadle (bass) joined the band as full-time members in 2009. The group have released two studio albums Passive Me, Aggressive You (2010) and In Rolling Waves (2013). Since 2012, the band has been based in Los Angeles, California, US.
David "Dave" Gahan (/ˈɡɑːn/; born David Callcott; 9 May 1962) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as the baritone lead singer for the electronic music band Depeche Mode since their debut in 1980. He is also an accomplished solo artist, releasing albums in 2003 (Paper Monsters) and 2007 (Hourglass). Though his bandmate Martin Gore continues to be the main Depeche Mode songwriter, Gahan has also contributed a number of songs to the band's most recent albums; Playing the Angel (2005), Sounds of the Universe (2009) and Delta Machine (2013). Three of these songs were released as singles, including "Suffer Well" in 2005, "Hole to Feed" in 2009, and "Should Be Higher" in 2013. In 2012 & 2015, he also contributed lyrics and sang lead vocals on the Soulsavers albums The Light the Dead See and Angels & Ghosts. Q magazine ranked Gahan no. 73 on the list of the "100 Greatest Singers" and no. 27 on "The 100 Greatest Frontmen".
Gahan was born as David Callcott into a working-class family, to parents Len Callcott (a bus driver) and his wife Sylvia (a conductress or "clippy" on London buses), Dave was only six months old when his father left the family. Sylvia and Len divorced two years later and his mother moved Dave and sister Sue (born 1960) to Basildon, Essex, after Sylvia met and married her second husband Jack Gahan (an administrator with Shell Oil). The Gahan family continued to grow with the birth of two more half-brothers Peter (born 1966) and Phil (born 1968). Dave and Sue were raised under the impression that their mother's second husband, Jack, was their natural father.

Blink 182 and Robert Smith lyrics With all of this I know now Everything inside of my head It all just goes to show how Nothing I know changes me at all Again I wait for this to change instead To tear the world in two Another night with her But I'm always wanting you Use me Holly come on and use me We know where we go Use me Holly come on and use me We go where we know With all of this I feel now Everything inside of my heart It all just seems to be how Nothing I feel pulls at me at all Again I wait for this to pull apart To break my time in two Another night with her But I'm always wanting you Use me Holly come on and use me We know where we go Use me Holly come on and use me We go where we know She's all I need She's all I...

“I Want All of This, All of This I Want” was a collaboration with artist Mark VonRosenstiel. Throughout the duration of the installation, a large-scale drawing machine wrote the phrase, “I Want All of This...” across a 20ft by 30ft space on the floor of [storefront]. “I Want all of This…” speaks to the desire for a deep understanding of one’s environment through the methodical repetition of the phrase, the mechanical motion of the machine, and our reflections on process versus the sought after goal. The installation served as a venue for redirecting one’s focus on process, and an affirmation of one’s ability to create truth from within. “I Want All of This, All of This I Want” was on view March 7 – April 1, 2013. The record company wants a hit so I told them this:
See my fingers they’re your money in the shape of a fist
I send you all my medical bills from the stress
And it’s ok if they get paid before the printed date
The record company wants a hit so they told me this:
Lose your temper, don’t be angry and verbally pissed
Think more about disco you know chart toppers sell
I signed their paper – Suck my dick, sincerely yours - go
to hell
(Chorus)
I don’t want you
To want me
To want you
To like me
I don’t want you
To want me
To want you
To love me
Please don’t let them turn me into something else
then the pathetic little shit I am…all if this for a hit
The record company wants a hit so we agreed on this:
To disagree on those little things that matter to me
Don’t give a damn about the tension I bring
