'I have too much hair!': Adorable little girl desperately struggles to put her hair in a ponytail 'like Mommy does' in cute tutorial video gone wrong

  • An Alabama mother shared a clip of her cute daughter attempting a hair tutorial
  • Tara Watkins, of Madison, said five-year-old Ryleigh had tried
  • But the little girl can be seen struggling to put her hair up into an elastic band
  • In the end she settles on a side instead of the intended ponytail

A precious little girl tried to put her hair up just like her mother does and recorded her efforts in her own version of a hair tutorial.

Five-year-old Ryleigh, of Madison, Alabama, began her video like the most expert beauty gurus, welcoming her audience with a 'Hey, everybody' and presenting each of her styling tools to the camera.

But she struggled to pull her hair into a perfect ponytail, lamenting at one point: 'I have way too much hair!' Ryleigh was undeterred though, and continued her styling efforts until she was satisfied.

Ryleigh's mother, Tara Watkins, shared her daughter's video online, writing in the caption: 'Hair tutorial gone WRONG!!! My baby tried though. She said she has too much hair.'

Watkins enjoys YouTube videos, especially hair and makeup tutorials, and Ryleigh sometimes watches them with her. The little girl eventually asked if she could record her own.

'I've always been hesitant about letting her do the hair tutorial - either because I'm fearful of her not being gentle and careful with her hair, or because it's usually braided up,' Watkins told the DailyMail.com.

'So that day, I had shampooed and conditioned it earlier. I was preparing to braid it up for the week and decided if I was going to let her do it, that would be the best time.'

Watkins asked Ryleigh if she still wanted to record her own video, and the five-year-old said she did. 'So I set her up with some designated hair items / products and let her take over from there,' Watkins said.

The clip begins with Ryleigh holding up a spray bottle, telling her audience: 'This is oil mixed with water.' She then shows a brush, a comb, a couple of hair clips and rubber bands, and gets to work.

The little girl begins by spraying some product at the base of her hair, then tries to pull it back.

'How do I get this all in the ponytail that Mommy does?' she wonders aloud. 'I have way too much hair.'

Not giving up: Ryleigh persevered and kept styling her hair until she was satisfied, eventually settling on a side part instead of a ponytail like she first intended

Ryleigh perseveres and at one point almost manages to put a hair tie around her hair, but lets go before the do is completed.

So she changes her plans and tells her audience: 'Okay, so I'm just going to do something down to the side. So let me see what I can work my magic with.

'Ooh, I think that's good,' she says as she manages to give herself a side part.

Watkins was the one who suggested the new do after her daughter stepped out of the bathroom to ask for tips.

'She came out so many times that were cut out of the video!', the mother said. 'I don't remember it all but I do recall telling her that last time to try something natural and to the side.'

Viewers thought Ryleigh's hair tutorial - even though it had gone wrong - was adorable.

'That is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I can relate!', one of them wrote.

Another one gave her an 'E for effort' and many said they could feel her struggle.
