The United States Presidency of Bill Clinton, also known as the Clinton administration, was the executive branch of the federal government of the United States from January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001. Clinton was the first president elected after the end of the Cold War, the first Baby Boomer president, and the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to serve two full terms.
In the 1992 presidential election, Clinton defeated incumbent Republican president George H.W. Bush to become the first Democratic president since Jimmy Carter left office in 1981. Clinton took office with Democratic majorities in both houses, and attempted to pass an ambitious health care reform bill. Republicans took control of both houses of Congress in 1994 and retained that control throughout Clinton's presidency, but Clinton won reelection in 1996. The administration had a mixed record on taxes but produced the first federal budget surpluses since 1969, for fiscal years 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001, leading to a decrease in the public debt (though the gross federal debt continued to increase). Clinton supported the North American Free Trade Agreement, a major free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, and he signed the agreement into law in 1994. His presidency saw the passage of welfare reform in Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act which ended Aid to Families with Dependent Children and reduced the number of welfare programs, which received support from both political parties. He also signed the reversal of the Glass-Steagall Act, an act which was designed to prevent financial institutions from getting too big to fail. He also signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act which legalized over-the-counter derivatives.
Clinton is an English surname, indicating one's ancestors came from English places called Glympton or Glinton. Clinton has frequently been used as a given name in the United States since the late 19th century. Baron Clinton is a title of peerage in England, originally created in 1298. Some notable people with the surname Clinton include:

You'll remember from last week that the old-school Republican George H.W. Bush had lost the 1992 presidential election to a young upstart Democrat from Arkansas named Bill Clinton. Clinton was a bit of a dark horse candidate, having survived a sex scandal during the election, but a third party run by Ross Perot split the vote, and Clinton was inaugurated in 1993. John will teach you about Clinton's foreign policy agenda, which included NATO action ...

Bubba did it again! He wiped the smirk off their faces. Clinton agreed to a 15 minute one-on-one interview with Fox News only on the condition that they spend at least half of the interview talking about the Clinton Global Initiative. The interview lasted 22 mintues with a majority of the time spent on Clinton's hunt for Bin Laden as President. Also Fox News NEVER asks these type of questions to any Republican and especially not this Adminstration. Just try to imagine if Bush got asked a critical question like this, he would have a heart attack! If Democrats want to win an election ever, they must watch this video because this is how you fight back! Clinton is a shinning example of brilliance and intelligence. And Thank God he's a Democrat! Syfy Channel's Ben Hansen from "Fact or Faked" analyzes former President Bill Clinton's interview on Jimmy Kimmel on April 2, 2014. Kimmel asked Clinton questions about his efforts to look into UFO files. Did Clinton find anything in the files? Did he know more than he was telling? Would he tell the public if he knew we had been visited? Hansen uses non-verbal communication techniques to give a systematic breakdown of the entire interview segment on the UFO/alien subject. If you watch to the end, you may be surprised at what is discovered.
