Tamron Hall is reportedly being encouraged to join Kelly Ripa on Live With Kelly after the former Today host abruptly left NBC News a week ago following the network's hiring of Megyn Kelly.

The 46-year-old journalist was spotted having lunch with Discovery's Henry Schleiff at Michael's as the two were discussing her next career move, Page Six reported.

'He was encouraging her to join Kelly,' a source said. 'He said, 'Throw your hat in the ring! Lighten things up.''

During their lunch outing, Creative Artists Agency co-founder Bill Haber dropped by to say hello to Hall, who is still hosting Deadline Crime on Schleiff's ID network.

But since her departure from the Peacock network, many have speculated as to what her next move will be.

Hall abruptly left NBC News refusing an offer of over $2million a year after Today cancelled her 9am hour slot with Al Rocker.

The news of their cancellation was announced to Roker and Hall on same day it was confirmed that they had beaten Live With Kelly in the key demo for the month of January, an insider told DailyMail.com.

And they had won they key demo for eight straight weeks when Today decided to inform Hall and Roker of the shows cancellation.

Her departure comes as NBC News inked a deal with former Fox News host Megyn Kelly who will appear begin appearing on the network in the fall.

Ripa has been left without a permanent co-host on ABC's Live With Kelly since former NFL player Michael Strahan left the show to join Good Morning America on a full-time basis last year.

Since his exit, Ripa has had numerous celebrities guest-host the show alongside her.

Back in December during an appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live with host Andy Cohen, Ripa spoke about when an official host would be announced.

'We really didn't set a time frame for ourselves. We just wanted to wait until we found the right person,' the 46-year-old said.

'What we didn't anticipate was that we would have such an outpouring of interest, so our list got very long very quickly.

'So we've been trying to keep it as narrow as possible, but then people pop up.'

During her appearance, Ripa didn't rule out considering bringing on a female co-host for the show.
