'I was completely freaking out': Kelly Clarkson reveals she had a cancer scare on the day of her first Grammy Awards win
It was a night she would never forget, but not for reasons you would expect.
And Kelly Clarkson is opening up for the first time about a cancer scare she received hours before she was set to attend the Grammys in 2006.
The Grammy Award-winning artist recounted the story on Billboard's Pop Shop podcast this week.

The Since You've Been Gone singer, who was only 23 years old at the time, received alarming news from her doctors that morning.
'Well, not many people know this — not to be a Debbie Downer — but I was told that morning that I had cancerous results for something. Here's the horrible part: I went the whole day crying,' said Clarkson. 'They redid my makeup like four times because I was like, 'Wow, so young.' I was just completely freaking out.'
The budding artist had a successful year and was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.
She went on to win both awards, but the success of her night was clouded in a pool of intense fear for her life.

The pop star explains that when she went back to the doctor the next day, she found out they have 'mixed up' her results and she didn't have any cancerous cells after all.
'I was like, 'Are you for real?! You completely ruined my entire [experience].' The first time for an artist…as a kid watching the Grammys, that was a big dream!'
She continued: 'It was kind of the worst/greatest day. And the next day was also the worst/greatest day because I wanted to punch someone. I was like, 'Who mixes up results? Why wouldn't you test again?'
'It was very much a roller coaster ride, that day, for me. So, it's kind of unfortunate, but a lot of the moments got stolen from that mishap. But hey, I didn't have cancer!'
She admits she was a little dramatic, even if she had been diagnosed with cancer.
She doing great! The singer has since bounced back from her cancer scare 10 years ago and has had a pretty good 2016 (pictured here in December)
'You think it would've been the greatest night ever for an artist,' Clarkson said. 'And then it was like a joke, like, 'This is my last hurrah!' I was so dramatic about it because I was twenty-something and scared. It was so weird. I don't even remember anything but being terrified.'
The 10 years since her scare have gone a lot smoother for the talented songstress.
She's since gone on to be nominated for countless more Grammys and won another in 2013 for Best Pop Vocal Album.
The Breakaway singer also has two beautiful children, daughter River, two, and son Remington, eight months, with husband Brandon Blackstock.

She has said she's done having kids though.
She told Extra: 'I am super thankful I'm never going to be pregnant again.
'I have my beautiful children and I'm done!'
And the 34-year-old singer - who is also stepmother to Brandon's older kids, Savannah, 14, and Seth, 11 - admitted it is 'pretty hard' to juggle her work and her family life, but she thinks it is important for her to do both in order to be a good role model for the children.
Balancing it all: The working mom has talked about the challenges of balancing her career and family
She said: 'We're still working on [the balance].
'It's pretty hard, being a working mom - I'm not gonna lie - but it's worth it for not only my little girls, but our boys to see women working and still being able to do that and accomplish being a great mom, which I feel like I'm doing. I think it's worth it definitely...
'I have a great teammate with my husband. He will definitely reel me in when I'm like, 'It's all going down, we're losing it!''
