Orange Is The New Black gets a season five premiere date as Netflix shares a new sneak peek of the series

Orange Is The New Black has premiere date for season five.

On Wednesday it was announced the Netlix series - about a group of women in prison at Litchfield Penitentiary - will return on June 9, it was announced through Entertainment Weekly.

The streaming service also shared a sneak peek at the upcoming season in a brief trailer.

The 14-second trailer shows the main characters in a quick montage before ending it on Daya, played by Dascha Polanco, holding a gun.

Danielle Brooks, who stars as Taystee in the show, revealed last month that season five will take place over three days.

In an interview with E! News on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet, she said: 'You will watch 13 episodes, and find out what happens in the course of three days.'

Adding that: 'It will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready.'

The show's Twitter shared the season five trailer, adding 'There's no turning back.'

On YouTube, 'Things will never be the same,' was written beneath the video as the caption.  

Orange Is The New Black stars Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper Chapman. 

Piper is in an all-women's federal prison after she was sentenced to 15-months of hard time.

Ten years after the crime, Alex had named her during a trial, thus resulting in Piper's arrest and conviction. 

Orange Is The New Black is based on a 2010 memoir by Piper Kerman. 

The first season debuted in July of 2013 on Netflix.

The show has already been renewed for a season six and a season seven, according to Variety.
