Madonna charmed a Malawian adoption judge who asked 'uncomfortable questions' because she feared the pop queen might be 'robbing' the country's greatest asset - its children, it can be revealed.

The US superstar was asked by presiding Judge Fiona Mwale about her age, her health, her celebrity status and her motivation for wanting to adopt the four-year-olds.

The 58-year-old, who publicly threatened to blow up the White House and used the F-word last month to describe her horror at President Trump's election, toned down her usual rhetoric when trying to adopt Stella and Esther.

She insisted she was against using foul language when bringing up children, took religion seriously and had carried out extensive research on twins before trying to bring them into her family, a court source said.

The pop queen began the adoption process two years ago after being 'compelled' to help the twins when she saw them at the Home of Hope orphanage where they had been left by their grandmother.

The actual application was granted in a fortnight, whereas critics say it normally takes around three months.

The singer jetted out of Malawi with her new adopted daughters on Wednesday night and they were expected to move straight into her New York home.

She posted a photo of herself on her Instagram account showing her walking hand in hand with the girls to confirm the adoption process.

In preparation for the girls' arrival in the US, Madonna's other adopted children David and Mercy made a home video expressing their joy at the arrival of their new siblings from their birth country, the court source said.

Her eldest daughter Lourdes, 20, also has had a tattoo of Mercy's name on her wrist, which the court said showed a strength of the relationship between the siblings.

Rocco, Madonna's son with director Guy Ritchie, demonstrated his support by travelling with his mother to Malawi for a cultural ceremony held for his brother David.

The court accepted that older children’s support strongly suggested that the twins would be loved as well.

Accompanying Madonna in her rented Gulfstream jet back to the US this week was a carer from Malawi who will live with the singer to help the twins settle into their new home.

Neither girls speaks English and the carer will also help David and Mercy learn Chichewa, the language of their birth.

At court, Madonna described how one of her previously adopted children had said they wanted to return to Malawi one day and become the country's President.

She also added that she hoped the twins might, when were they were older, want to help out in the children's hospital ward she is financing in Malawi.

The court source said Judge Mwale had approved the adoption after Madonna proved she had a clear vision for parenting.

The court also found that Madonna was against using bad language and hitting children as a form of discipline and promised to bring up her children in a spiritual manner in line with her belief in God.

Days before flying to Malawi to complete the adoption process last month, the singer headlined a rally in Washington DC where she voiced her anger and disapproval at President Trump taking over the White House.

She told 500,000 protesters: 'It took this horrific moment of darkness to wake the f*** up.'

Healthy: One aspect of the adoption that had raised eyebrows was the singer's age, which at 58 is above the limit usually set in Malawi. As part of her application she underwent a rigorous medical examination and was given a clean bill of health. Pictured: With Mercy and David

Her remark about blowing up the House led to calls for the anti Trump singer to be investigated by the Secret Service as a death threat.

Madonna later clarified her statement saying it was an expression of her anger.

One aspect of the adoption that had raised eyebrows was the singer's age, which at 58 is above the limit usually set in Malawi.

However, as part of her application she underwent a rigorous medical examination and was given a clean bill of health.

The court said Madonna was motivated by 'her desire to offer a home, love, protection and guidance to the infants.'

The ruling says:' The petitioner (Madonna) appreciates her very privileged position and she would like to share what she has with those who are less privileged.

'The petitioner testified that she encourages her children to believe in their dreams, work hard and never give up.'

As well as her fitness, the court took into account Madonna's successful adoption of David and Mercy and praised how they had thrived in her care and had returned to Malawi with her several times.

Stella and Esther will keep the names given to them at birth and Madonna has insisted she will maintain close links with Malawi, promoting the charitable organisations she has set up in the country.

In addition, Judge Mwale look at whether Madonna had used her considerable fortune in the adoption process by offering money to the twins' father and maternal uncle.

'After extensive examination, I was further satisfied that neither had received any incentive nor had they been induced in any way to give their consent which I have concluded was freely given.'

The girls' mother died five days after giving birth due to complications from a caesarean section operation in August 2012.

An initial report by social workers found their father Adam Mwale had abandoned the twins when he walked out on his family after the death of his wife.

The girls were left with their grandmother who did not have the means to care for the girls as well as their five other siblings aged from eight to 20.

However, Judge Mwale said after talking with the father she concluded that he did not just abandon the twins after remarrying but did not have the means to support them and his new family.

Some Malawian activists have criticised Madonna for allegedly bending the rules and for exploiting one of the world's poorest countries.

But Judge Mwale said the singer would provide a loving family life for the children in 'a luxurious, spacious and comfortable abode in an affluent neighbourhood' of the United States.

Madonna's new daughters were 'very happy' and 'very excited' as they prepared to leave for their new life in America, their government guardian revealed.

Wednesday's flight was the first time they have ever been on a plane.

MADONNA'S SIX CHILDREN

  • Lourdes, 20, her daughter with Cuban actor Carlos Leon. Known for work on 'I'm Going to tell you a Secret', a documentary about Madonna.
  • Rocco Ritchie, 16, her son from her marriage to director Guy Ritchie. Madonna has a strained relationship with her son and he now lives with his father in London. He has publicly stated he is glad he doesn't live with her.
  • David Banda, 11, adopted from Malawi in 2006, when she was still married to Guy Ritchie. The pop star was accused of breaking adoption rules because she hadn't lived in Malawi beforehand. She was criticised for getting 'special treatment' due to her celebrity status.
  • Mercy James, 10, adopted from Malawi in 2009. The singer's application was initially rejected, again, because she had not lived in Malawi. She was eventually granted permission after donating £12m to the state.
  • Stella and Esther, aged four, adopted today from Malawi.

Court appointed guardian Dominic Misomali told MailOnline: 'You could see the love she had for them in her face and she was already a mother to them.

'The girls are very happy and very excited about what is happening to them.'

Mr Misomali, who will later this year travel to New York to see how the girls are settling in, said the singer clasped the hands of the girls to leave the judge's chambers when her adoption was rubbed stamped by Judge Fiona Mwale.

'They walked out either side of her and she was holding their hands.

'You could see the love she had for them in her face and she was already a mother to them. The girls are very happy and very excited about what is happening to them.'

Mr Misomali, 52, the Principal Social Welfare Officer for the Department of Gender, Children and Disability, will make at least one visit a year to check up on the children and report back.

'She has followed the correct procedures for adoption,' she said.

During the adoption process Madonna has visited the twins several times while checks were carried out by the Department of Gender and Children to her suitability as an adoptive parent.

Without hinting what her intentions were, the singer posted photos of herself with the girls on Instagram and also a picture of the twins with her daughter Lourdes.

The photos were taken last summer and makes Madonna's statement two weeks ago that she was not in Malawi to adopt children all the more bizarre.

After photos appeared of Madonna at the High Court she emphatically denied she was in Lilongwe to adopt any children saying she was visiting her charity projects in the country.

MailOnline has contacted Madonna for comment.

MADONNA'S TRIP TO MALAWI

Madonna flew out to Malawi to check on the construction of a children's wing at a hospital her charity was funding in July.

She was joined by her adopted Malawian children, David Banda and Mercy James, both 11, and her biological son Rocco, 16.

The family returned to the Home of Hope Orphanage where David grew up - the same home where Madonna took in new daughters Stella and Esther - and the Kondanani Children's Village where she found Mercy.

Photos from Madonna's Instagram account show her two adopted kids smiling gleefully as they play with impoverished young children.

Rocco, who she had with film director Guy Ritchie, walks hand in hand with two Malawian orphans in another picture captioned: 'Squad.'

The popstar met with President Peter Mutharika before visiting the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital to see the new paediatric surgery unit, funded by her charity Raising Malawi.

David Banda and Mercy James posed with their mother inside the 50-bed surgical wing, due to open this year.

It was the first time in almost two years the pop diva had visited the poor African nation, where she was embroiled in controversy after her adoption of David in 2006 and Mercy in 2009.
