PC Organics Baby Food Recall: Pouches Risk Possible 'Dangerous Bacteria'
The risk of “dangerous bacteria” has prompted one of Canada’s largest grocers to widen its recall for one of its most popular baby food products.
All flavours of PC Organics baby food pouches are now subject to recall, the company said in an email Thursday.

The concern is over a “manufacturing error” that may encourage clostridium botulinum — a foodborne bacteria that can produce the neurotoxin botulinum.
Extra water was added to the pouches during production. It’s added moisture the company says can risk the growth of clostridium botulinum spores.
An initial recall issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency last week only affected one flavour after the government agency received a complaint from a consumer.
Products under recall include 128-mL pouches of:
- Apple, Blueberry & Green Pea strained baby food
- Apple Crisp Muffin flavour puree snack
- Apple, Carrot, Apricot & Millet strained baby Food
- Banana, Sweet Potato & Blueberry strained baby food
- Apple strained baby food
- Apple, Banana & Blueberry with Yogurt strained baby food
- Apple, Banana & Strawberry with Yogurt strained baby food
- Apple Cherry strained baby food
- Sweet Potato, Apple and Mango strained baby food
- Peach Maple Cobbler Flavour puree snack
- Banana Apple & Carrot strained baby food
- Pumpkin, Apple, Peach & Buckwheat strained baby food
- Prune, Apple, Butternut Squash & Quinoa strained baby food
- Pear strained baby food
- Mango, Apple, Carrot & Peach strained baby food
- Blackberry Cobbler Flavour puree snack
- Banana & Kiwi strained baby food
- Mango strained baby food
- Banana & Raspberry strained baby food
- Banana, Apple, Apricot & Rice strained baby food
- Banana Bread Flavour puree snack
- Pear, Apple and Broccoli strained baby food
- Sweet Potato, Banana & Apricot strained baby food
- Tropical Twist Smoothie with Greek Yogurt puree snack
- Banana, Mango & Apple with Yogurt strained baby food
- Orange Twist Smoothie with Greek Yogurt puree snack
- Prunes strained baby food
6x128-mL pouches:
- Apple, Banana & Strawberry with Yogurt strained baby food
- Sweet Potato, Apple and Mango strained baby food
- Banana Apple & Carrot strained baby food
- Mango strained baby food
- Pear, Apple and Broccoli strained baby food
The recall affects all codes of the 128-mL pouches of the baby food sold up until Feb. 8.
Store including Loblaws, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart carried the pouches in its stores across the country.
Consumers are asked to throw out the recalled product or return it to stores.
