An unlikely duo! Justin Bieber appears in a VERY bizarre Japanese phone commercial with eccentric comic Piko Taro

Last year he retweeted a link to Japanese YouTube star Piko Taro's Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen music video.

And now Justin Bieber has teamed up with the eccentric star to take part in a Japanese TV advert for SoftBank, a mobile phone and telecommunications company based in Tokyo.

Justin joins the leopard-print loving sensation to star in the advert to promote one of the country's leading telecommunications companies.

The commercial has not yet been aired but a new behind-the-scenes teaser was released online to tantalise fans.

Sporting traditional blue Japanese clothing, Justin  tries his hand at Japanese, saying 'Konnichiwa' before taking a selfie on a phone before going into a school.

He walks through the corridors with a gaggle of schoolchildren behind him then pops his head into a class that Piko Taro appears to be teaching.

The pair greet each other then work together to teach the children before Justin gives all the pupils a high five.

Justin and Piko have a longstanding bromance going on.

Last August, Piko released a bizarre song, 'Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen' and finding it funny, Justin shared a clip of the hit on Twitter to his 90 million followers.

The advert allowed the pair to finally meet in person, and it even has a reference to the song with the pair using a pineapple and an apple in the classroom to teach the children.

The advert for the Softbank phone company is to provide a discounted plan for students between the ages of 18 and 25.

Justin recently took part in a Super Bowl commercial for T-Mobile where he give a history of touchdown celebrations decked out in a tuxedo.

To illustrate the 'high five,' the star turns back to a scene behind him - which is professional football player and New England Patriots tight end Rob 'Gronk' Gronkowski dressed as a caveman and giving a high five.

The advert came to prominence at the weekend when Wyoming police threatened to punish drink drivers who decide to get behind the wheel intoxicated with being subjected to 'that Justin Bieber @TMobile Super Bowl Commercial the entire way to jail,'
