Seeing double? Kylie Jenner is being accused of REPACKAGING old lip kits as limited-edition after fans point out striking similarities on social media

  • Some Kylie Cosmetics customers are convinced that the brand's Spice and Blitzen lipsticks are the same shades in different packaging
  • Fans have taken to social media to offer up comparison swatches

If you love lipstick, you know that there is a discernible difference between a cool-toned red and a warm-toned red or a beige nude and a pink nude.

It's for this reason that you'll never hear fans complain when Kylie Jenner, 19, adds a new variation of red, neutral, etc., to her cosmetics brand's extensive line-up of lip kits.

But when even lipstick addicts can't tell the difference between two shades, the complaints, as Kylie has learned this week, will come pouring in.

Seventeen.com reported that customers are taking to social media to offer comparisons (or lack thereof) of Spice, a shade that launched in October, and Blitzen, a limited-edition shade released as part of the brand's holiday collection in November.

Controversy: Kylie Jenner, 19, is in hot water with some of her cosmetics brand's fans for allegedly repackaging a lipstick shade and calling it new

On kyliecosmetics.com, Spice is described as a 'deepened raspberry plum', while Blitzen (which is sold out) was described almost identically as a 'deep raspberry-plum'.

'Why are Spice and Blitzen the same exact shade just different packaging? I'm so mad,' wrote one customer on Twitter alongside a photo of swatches of the two.

'Kylie Cosmetics has been repackaging their general line lipsticks and making them limited edition. Example: spice and blitzen,' tweeted another frustrated fan this week, who also pointed out the price disparity between the two.

The Spice lip kit, which includes a lip liner, costs $29, while Blitzen was only available as part of a four-piece set (sans liner) that sold for $45.

Kylie has yet to comment on the situation, but the controversy doesn't seem to have affected the excitement surrounding the opening of the Kylie Cosmetics New York City pop-up shop.

An Instagram photo posted today of the store's exterior has racked up more than 100,000 likes in less than an hour.

The shop, located on 27 Mercer Street, officially opens on Monday, February 13 at 10AM.
