Mark Pickles, 51, returned to work at his shop next door to find the dramatic incident recorded in full by his shop's cameras.

Mr Pickles said: 'I was sat at home it was my day off in fact. We'd actually closed the shop. The funny thing is my employee always parks in that position where the car swung in, it's only a small car park.

'It's very interesting, we don't know how it happened, there's been lots of speculation whether the car had a fault or the driver even suffered a heart attack.

'Just 15 seconds prior to that, there was a family of five in that position. I couldn't believe it when I watched the footage back, it's shocking.'

While the teenage passenger leaps out, the driver, a man in his 50s, didn't straight away and witnesses of the crash hurry over to help him out.

The driver who told West Midlands Ambulance Service that he had a headache, rib pain and a slight nose bleed, was taken to the George Eliot hospital with the passenger.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue said they rescued three people injured by the destruction on Edward Street.

Mr Pickles said: 'Where the car hit the shop, there's a sofa right next to the wall which is normally jam packed, there were about four customers in there at the time I think.

'But none of them of the sofa, it was very lucky again- that's three instances where it could've been a whole lot worse and very different indeed.

'If you look at the video very slowly it looks like it's going into the shop across the road, then it looks like it's going from zero to 30 or 40 miles per hour.

'Also the windscreen wiper goes on which is bizarre, something very strange happened but luckily it wasn't as bad as it could've easily been.'
