But Jennifer Garner boasted an impeccably youthful and flawless complexion as she stepped out in Santa Monica on Tuesday.

Allowing her natural beauty to shine through, the mother-of-two went make-up free on the outing, beaming broadly as she headed to the shops with a friend.

Looking effortlessly chic for the outing, Jennifer layered a ribbed grey jumper over a plaid shirt.

She teamed the garment with skinny jeans, whilst her feet were slipped into cosy black boots.

Giving the look a preppy edge she accessorised with a large black rucksack and wayfarer sunglasses.

Jennifer has no doubt been enjoying some free time since she finished shooting her upcoming film The Tribes Of Palos Verdes.

She stars alongside Elisabeth Rohm and Maika Monroe in the story of a teenage surfer girl whose mother and father are splitting.

The story has echoes of Jennifer's own relationship to now estranged husband Ben Affleck, 44.

The couple, who share Samuel, four, daughters Seraphina, eight and Violet, 11, announced their separation in the summer of 2015 but never filed for divorce.

Since their split, the couple have maintained a friendship for the sake of their children, even spending the holidays together.

Last year, Ben sweetly called Jennifer the 'best mum in the world' to their kids.
