Sydney Morning Herald photographers Nick Moir and Wolter Peeters are renowned for capturing spectacular weather, from bushfires to storms. In the seminar, they share insights into photographing natural phenomena.

Joining the Sydney Morning Herald in 1993 and cutting his teeth on breaking news such as the Ivan Milat Trial and the Thredbo landslide, Nick Moir began focusing on fires and storms in 1998. Winning a World Press photo award for bushfire coverage in 2003, the 2009 ANZANG (landscape and wildlife photographer of the year award), the Environmental Photographer of the Year, a two-time finalist in the Moran Portrait Prize and 2002 Walkley Press Photographer of the Year award.

Wolter Peeters has been working for Fairfax Media as a photographer since 1999 and transferred to the Sydney Morning Herald in 2010. Wolter covers every aspect of the paper, from news to features, but he finds photographing breaking events and documenting severe weather particularly rewarding. He has been a finalist for the HeadOn portrait prize and won a Walkley award in 2013 for a sports photograph covering the International Rowing Regatta in Penrith.
