Paula Patton bonds with son Julian in LA after ex Robin Thicke's disastrous day in court amid custody battle
There were no blurred lines regarding Paula Patton's mood on Wednesday.
The 41-year-old actress beamed as she was snapped in Los Angeles walking with her 6-year-old son with ex-husband Robin Thicke, Julian Fuego, on the same day the pop singer went to court looking for multiple changes to their current custody arrangement - and came away with nothing.
The 5ft7 beauty, who's been seen in projects such as Déjà Vu, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Precious, kept things low-key in a black leather jacket with a black baseball cap and a striped black and white shirt, with tight blue denim jeans with a torn knee.
Magnificent mom: Paula Patton, 41, was snapped in LA Wednesday with son Julian Fuego, 6, on the same day her ex-husband Robin Thicke, the boy's father, was unable to convince a court to remove a court-ordered monitor from their visits
On track: The actress and her ex are currently battling in court over terms of custody over the boy
Longtime ties: Patton and Thicke were involved for more than 20 years, almost 10 of them as husband and wife
Coming soon: Patton is set to headline an ABC thriller called Somewhere Between
Vroom! The 41-year-old actress felt her son was better off with a court monitor on hand to supervise his visits with Thicke, sources told People
The stunning single mom, who stars in an upcoming ABC thriller called Somewhere Between, couldn't contain her elation as she was spotted leaving an office building with the boy, who was dressed up in a white T-shirt with black pants and white shoes.
Her good mood was presumably fueled by a judge denying a series of requests Thicke, 39, made through his legal team to try and eliminate the presence of a court-appointed monitor on his visits with the boy, according to TMZ.
Thicke, whose custody war with Patton has exploded in the early weeks of 2017, is currently getting three multi-hour visits a week with Julian - on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays - with a monitor on hand to supervise, and potentially shorten or cancel visits. The latter came into play the following weekend, as a Friday visit was canceled because Julian didn't want to go, and Saturday's - in which Robin and Julian visited the Los Angeles children's attraction Kids World - was shortened.
Way back when: Thicke and Patton shined walking the red carpet of the Grammy awards in 2014 in LA
Thicke, via his legal team, sought to have the judge on Wednesday remove, replace or strip the monitor of power, but all of his requests were turned down, the outlet reported.
Thicke said in court docs that there's 'no need for a monitor' on his visits with his son, People reported, as he said he's 'never done anything to harm Julian, and [he] never would.'
An insider told the magazine: 'Paula did not have to request that the court grant Robin court-appointed monitored visits with Julian three days a week, but did so with the belief that maintaining a relationship with the father in the presence of a monitor to ensure his safety and well-being would be in Julian’s long-term best interest.'
Thicke also currently remains under a restraining order to keep away from his ex-wife, her mother Joyce and Julian, save for scheduled visits.
The decree was issued by the court after Patton told officials about a 'terrifying' January 19 incident involving the Lost Without U singer. On that date, Patton's mother had to call the police after Thicke would not leave her home on the heels of an interview Julian had with social workers, Patton said in court docs last month.
Thicke abused drugs, was unfaithful during their marriage, and physically abusive to her in an April 2013 incident, Patton told the court, adding that the talented showman - who's currently dating 22-year-old model April Love Geary - has been difficult to deal with on pick-ups and drop-offs in nearly two years since their split.
The contentious case between the singer and actress returns to court February 24.
Next up: Thicke, seen here in Connecticut last October, is due back in court later this month in the custody case
