But Joshua Sasse's former co-star Vinnie Jones has now alleged the British actor had set his sights on his ex-fiancé Kylie Minogue from the get-go.

Kylie, 48, and Joshua, 29, - who got engaged in February 2016 after a whirlwind romance on the set of the musical comedy show - confirmed they had parted ways last week, but the pop princess yet to explain the reason for their break-up.

Vinnie told The Sun's Dan Wooton: 'I knew about them before anyone. Joshua was moving into her hotel the night before she came — on purpose.

'I said to him, "Am I the only one who’s got this?! He said: "What do you mean?" I said, "F*** off Josh".

The footballer-turned-actor went on to reveal that Joshua charmed Kylie with a pick-up line and won her over with his cheeky humour.

'His opening line to her was, "You do know all our guest stars have dinner with the star of the show of Galavant". He’s hilarious. She was on set quite a bit.'

Joshua previously raised eyebrows when he claimed he wasn't familiar with the Can't Get You Out Of My Head hitmaker's three-decade long career.

He told KIIS FM's Kyle and Jackie O: 'I'm not really a fan of popular culture so frankly, I just, I really didn't know who she was.'

This comes after ' family friend Peter Ford boldly claimed on Monday that Kylie's loved ones are apparently 'celebrating' her split with Joshua because they thought he was 'bad news' and a 'bulls**t artist'.

Speaking on Australian breakfast radio show KIIS 1065, the entertainment reporter said, 'They're celebrating! They're thrilled! He was bad news.'

Peter, who is said to know the Minogue family, revealed Kylie's younger sister Dannii in particular was not a fan of the British actor, and considered him a 'b******t artist'.

'Relief is the word. They always had concerns. Dannii is like a sniffer dog. She can suss out a bulls**t artist anywhere and she did not like him,' Peter said.

The reporter went on to confirm rumours that Kylie funded her 29-year-old former fiances' lifestyle and even paid for him to have $10,000 worth of hair transplants.

'She's given him everything. Which is fine to do in a relationship, and she was happy to do that,' he said.

Peter added, 'It wasn't like he was trying to force money out of her. She really wanted this one to work'.

The 48-year-old singer came to the rescue when her much younger fiance began losing his hair, the reporter says.

'She paid for his hair extensions. He got the plugs put in. That's the ultimate sign of love and dedication and she's been rewarded like this,' Peter told the radio hosts.

The engagement is said to have ended over rumours that Joshua had grown close to actress Marta Milans.

While Peter admitted Kylie saw the Spanish star as a 'concern' he doesn't believe that Joshua cheated and revealed that Kylie and Joshua in fact split before Christmas.

'I don't think so. That was part of her concerns, but it's been off for a while. It's been off since before Christmas. He's had to go home to live with mum and dad,' he said.

Peter believes that Kylie's split was a small mercy as a divorce between the pair down the line would have been 'messy'.

He told Kyle and Jackie, 'Thank god this didn't end up in a marriage. It would have been much messier and nastier.'

Kylie confirmed the sad news of her split on Instagram on Friday morning as she thanked her loyal fans for their messages of concern and support.

Alongside a picture of a beautiful sunrise, Kylie wrote: '#lovers ... Thank you for all your love and support throughout this recent chapter of my life.

'Thank you now for your love and understanding with the news that Josh and I have decided to go our separate ways.

'We wish only the best for each other as we venture towards new horizons. #thesunalwaysrises'.
