Tickford has added tyre and wheel upgrades to its personalisation packages. Photo: Joel Strickland

Revived Aussie muscle car tuner, Tickford, has added more Mustang personalisation packs to its repertoire.

The aftermarket road car operation is adding some more bling to the Ford Mustang with an optional wheel and tyre upgrade package.

Centered around new 20-inch 10-spoke satin black alloy wheels - a step up from the standard 19-incher - the Tickford hoops now hold Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT tyres that are fatter than those fitted as standard Mustangs with 9.5-inch 265/35ZR20 front and 11-inch 295/30ZR20 rear tyres.

That's a decent jump from the 9-inch front and rear tyres that bedeck the four-cylinder EcoBoost models and the 9-inch front and 9.5-inch rear tyres that come standard on the GT variant.

Available on all Ford Mustang variants the pack also includes tyre pressure sensors and locking wheel nuts and will cost customers $4490.

The tyre and wheel upgrades join Tickford's Mustang Power Packs which up the power on both the EcoBoost and GT variants.

Tickford is also developing a ride and handling package and a body styling and interior comfort package, which will be available in the coming months.

A range of upgrades and personalisation packages are also available for Ford Ranger owners

It hasn't been all good news for Mustang owners recently with recent two-star crash test results coming out of Europe

The Mustang was struck down for a lack of electronic features such as autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assistance - which are only mandatory from this year - although they will feature in a facelifted version of the car due locally in 2018.

Crash rating assessors also found its airbags failed to inflate properly and that the car falls short in frontal-offset and side-impact pole tests used in Australia, but scored well in the side impact test.

The Mustang did however receive a five-star score in the US.
