Career

Born and raised in New York, Joe LaPorta graduated from NYU with a bachelor's degree in Music Technology. He began his mastering career at The Lodge and then joined Sterling Sound in 2013 as a Senior Engineer. He has amassed a body of work that includes artists like David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Vampire Weekend, The Killers, Beach House, Tiesto, Imagine Dragons, The Weeknd, Garbage, Run_The_Jewels, Tune-Yards, Armin van Buuren, Neon Trees, The Postal Service, Walk_the_Moon, Cold War Kids, Neutral Milk Hotel, KRS-One, Matt & Kim, Alanis Morissette, Youth Lagoon, The Raveonettes, Jimmy Cliff, Neon Indian, Against Me!, Sleigh Bells, BT, Dum Dum Girls, Solange, Twin Shadow, Santana, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Morgan Page, Cults, Smith Westerns and many others.

In addition to mastering, LaPorta also works as a music consultant on forensic musicology/copyright infringement cases.
