The facelifted Toyota Yaris range has been revealed in Europe ahead of an Australia launch in March.

Australia misses out on the new 1.5-litre engine available in Europe, but instead will stick with the same older 1.3- and 1.5-litre engines.

A revised front includes a new bumper, headlights, fog lights, trapezoidal grilles in a honeycomb finish and a fresh look surrounding the central Toyota logo.

The exterior tweaks which is intended to provide a wider look with more horizontal lines.

There are also new 15- and 16-inch wheel designs.

Inside, the updated Toyota Yaris runs revised instrumentation with two analogue dials surrounding a new 4.2-inch colour TFT multi-function display, new trim materials and colours, new propeller-style air-vents, blue instrument lighting and revised switches. The rear seat now includes ISOFIX child seat mountings.

On the engineering front, Toyota's focus has been on improving ride and handling with re-tuned shock absorbers and revisions to the electric power steering and engine mounts.

Refinement was under the microscope too and, as well as the new engine mounts, the updated Yaris scores a new exhaust system with a sub-silencer, modified intake airbox, a new front subframe, new driveshafts and a larger engine rill restrictor.

Safety has been boosted with rear seat belts including force limiters and pretensioners and the standard fitment of the Toyota Safety Sense package which includes; Pre-Collision System with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Alert, Road Sign Assist and Automatic High Beam. However, this package will only be made standard in Australia on the range-topping ZR while it is optional on all other model grades.

Full Australian pricing and specifications will be detailed closure to the launch date.
