The biweekly magazine confirmed the news after a Gaga fan Twitter account posted a video of a snippet of a promo clip which announced: 'Lady Gaga duets with Metallica.'

The Bad Romance hitmaker is a regular at music's biggest night as she performed an inspiring tribute to David Bowie at last year's event.

She is also no stranger to collaborations at The Grammys as she was joined by Tony Bennett as they performed Cheek To Cheek in 2015.

Metallica last performed on the show in 2014 as they did their classic One with world famous concert pianist Lang Lang.

There are more collaborations slated for the gala event as The Weeknd is set to perform with collaborators Daft Punk and Alicia Keys will join forces with country singer Maren Morris.

The 59th annual Grammy Awards hosted by James Corden is set to air Sunday at 8pm EST on CBS.

It has been a busy week for Gaga as she was heavily praised for her highly-energetic and ambitious 13-minute performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday night.

The singer - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - also took to Twitter later on that night to announce her upcoming Joanne World Tour.

She kept the declaration very simple by posting a .GIF featuring her with circular shades that had 'Joanne' flashed across them.
