Clive Palmer tries to delay Queensland Nickel court hearing

Businessman Clive Palmer has launched a fresh legal bid to postpone a Federal Court hearing over the collapse of Queensland Nickel.

The hearing is due to resume in Brisbane on Thursday, with liquidators seeking to continue their examination of the former federal MP over his involvement in the business, which was placed into liquidation last year.

His wife Anna and nephew Clive Mensink, QN's sole registered director who has been out of the country on an extended holiday, have also been summoned to appear.

But Mr Palmer has filed an urgent application to have the case adjourned. It will be heard by the Federal Court at 2.15pm on Wednesday.

The moves comes after the High Court delivered a comprehensive judgment for its decision to throw out Mr Palmer's previous move to avoid being questioned by liquidators.

Mr Palmer gave evidence for several days in the Federal Court hearing in September last year as liquidators examined whether he'd acted as a "shadow director" of the company.

He then lodged the High Court application, arguing his summons was unconstitutional, but the application was thrown out after a one-day hearing in November.

The court released a comprehensive 45-page summary of its reasons for doing so on Wednesday, saying there was no constitutional conflict and the liquidators were well within their rights to call Mr Palmer to give evidence about the collapse of his own company.

They also ordered Mr Palmer to pay costs.
