UPDATE!: (6/16/16)
Well, my court June 13th appearance was uneventful for a few reasons. I am seeking a lawsuit against the city, and because of that, I will have to move the case to another city/courthouse because the judge and prosecutor have to be impartial and unbiased. I have a feeling it may be a while until something actually happens with this case. The next court date is scheduled for July 11th, but all that will happen is the announcement of the case moving to another city. Will keep everyone posted as soon as something happens. Additionally, I may create a facebook event, or twitter account specifically for this so that the updates can be quicker, AND I may possibly want to start protesting and rallying. Since the day this has happened, I haven't received an apology from anyone. Not the mayor, not the councilmen, not the police chief, not the police department, not the internal affairs. This cop tried to cause an accident. I haven't even heard a worth-while excuse for it yet. I know i'm not the only one who thinks that officers shouldn't try to get into accidents with people, as well as harassing citizens and provoking them into getting arrested...because of that, I am contemplating setting up a twitter account, as well as protesting (with banners, shirts, etc.) because something should be done in a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps if this made national news, something would be done quicker.
Any suggestions for protesting/rallying? What are your opinions?

Court is scheduled for Monday, June 13th! I think I got the notice late because of Memorial day weekend. Not sure what my attorney will do yet, but I don't think the 13th will be the end of this. Not yet at-least.

Update 1: (4/30/16)
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone supporting me. I didn't know this video would get as much attention as it's getting. Because of that, I feel like I should bring up what happened after the 'traffic stop.'
On March 31st, I was eating with a friend at a local Zinburger. Afterwards, we were walking to my car and I was explaining to him what happened when the cop slammed on his brakes. A cop car happened to drive by us in the parking lot, and apparently, they overheard the conversation. The cop stopped the car, and confronted me. I don't know how coincidental it is, but the cop was Velez, and a partner.
The first thing he said was "what did you say?" At this point, I was thinking "This guy's a hot head," and tried to diffuse the situation.
We kept going back and forth, but the officer said, "if you were a man, you would say something to my face." The officer also said ,"you are a coward." At that point, he started backing up and I said "sir, you have a badge and uniform and represent the state of NJ, and you act like that?"
At that point, he reapproached me again, shoulders square within 2 feet of me. Safe to say it was uncomfortable. Again, he said I was a coward. I am confident he was trying to provoke me into saying or doing something thst would warrant an arrest, so I just repeated "I will see you in court," at which point I offered to shake his hand, but he just walked away.
I did not put this in the video because I didn't have proof of it, but I have initiated a case with internal affairs about a week after it happened. I also have a witness in my friend who will be involved in the investigation. The partner can also be asked if this happened, but I doubt he would be willing to speak about it.
Regardless, the investigator that I spoke to will be checking if Velez was on duty on the day and time in question, which I was accurately able to provide, along with the my friend's contact info.

I tried to convey my thoughts accurately in the video, but I don't believe it is being received how I would like it to be received. Again, I am grateful for the police. By no means am I saying that all police officers are uneducated and under-trained. There are plenty of officers who care about what they do, and thus, they are efficient at what they do, and we should be grateful for them providing a safe environment for us. I am not grouping all police officers together.
That being said, I believe requiring officers to have more education will substantially decrease the frequency of situations like this and will ultimately benefit all of society.

Clifton is an affluent suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. It is an exclusive residential area and is home to some of the most expensive real estate in South Africa,with dwellings nestled on cliffs that have sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Clifton was rated as one of the Top Ten Beaches by the cable and satellite television network Discovery Travel Channel in 2003 and 2004 and has received Blue Flag status. In 2005 and 2006 it was rated by Forbes.com at number 8 in the Top 10 Topless beaches in the World. Clifton is neighbored by the suburbs of Camps Bay and Bantry Bay.
The area has a set of 4 beaches which are frequently used destinations for both locals and tourists. The beaches, which are named from 1st to 4th, are separated by falls of granite boulders and have almost pure white granitic sand. The four beaches of Clifton are one of the few areas well protected from the notorious south-easterly wind, which has a great deal to do with its popularity with bathers. A fifth beach, before First Beach, called Moses Beach (so-called because of the papyrus plants that grow along it), appears and disappears as the sand is washed in and out with the seasons. The water, although chilly (12–16 °C), plays host to many watersports, mostly surfing, both board and body. The strongest surf is at First, diminishing to Fourth, where it is the weakest. Fourth beach (to the South), is the most populated and glamorous venue; attracting families. Yachts anchor off Fourth beach, especially on summer weekends. Third beach is known as a venue for gay culture. Second beach is populated by students playing beach volleyball and beach bats. First beach, to the north, the smallest beach, draws a mixed crowd of locals and surfers. Clifton Beach was noted as one of Discovery.com's best beaches by region.
Clifton's 4th beach has also been awarded the Blue Flag award in recognition of its environmental, safety and tourist standards.
The small size of the properties on which bungalows are built between Fourth and Second beaches is attributable to the fact that the area was laid out by the City of Cape Town for returning soldiers who had fought in World War I. The original bungalows, now all but replaced by new structures, were built from the packing cases that conveyed imported motor cars during the 1920s and '30's. Narrow flights of stairs run between Victoria Road and the various beaches. These houses now fetch very high prices on the housing market, despite being only able to be reached by stairs, and, in most cases, having no garaging.

After putting nearly 115 miles in the Hoka One One Clifton 3, i am ready to report back! As many of you might remember, I thuroughly enjoyed the original Clifton. Despite it's shortcomings, Hoka had released a super lightweight, cushioned racer that went the distance and beyond!
Well, their follow up version, the Clifton 2, did not do me happy and unfortunately, suffered from weight, stiffness and major fit constraint. I am happy to report that the Clifton 3 is back to form with a softer, stretchier upper and soft cushion that harkens back to the original.
Really my only new gripes are with the surprising weight addition (nearly 2.5 oz heavier than version 1!), the welded overlay durability and the looks. Other than that, Hoka once again has a pretty stellar road shoe on their hands here - or I guess, on their feet!

What was supposed to be a single time lapse of the ship getting pulled out, ended up turning into a four day documentation of the entire event. This is a continuation from my previous time lapses found here https://vimeo.com/42113389. There were three attempts to pull the Eihatsu Maru out, two of them failing with the rope snapping and the third being a success. The diesel on the Japanese trawler, which was also carrying fish, had to be pumped into a bladder on the beach to decrease its weight, making it easier to pull out. It ended up being quite a lengthy operation involving teams of specialised staff to operate and to offload machinery, and to coordinate the event. The diesel was offloaded, a stronger towing point was welded to the rear of the ship and she was pulled out at high tide on Friday the 18th May 2012. Bristol, Clifton and that Bridge
All shots taken 6th April 2011 during a trip to Bristol. The journey starts at Avonmouth at an observation point overlooking the gorge. We then took a stroll through the parkland towards Clifton shooting along the way. There is a brief look at the exclusive Clifton residential area before entering the bridge. Photographs of some of the engineering features of the bridge along with shots of the gorge beneath. We then headed towards Clifton Village before going into Bristol City where there is a strong water theme with, amongst others, pavement fountains overlooked by Neptune. The Samaritans plaque on the tower is a last minute attempt to save some poor soul who is there to attempt suicide by leaping from the bridge. Additionally, I may create a facebook event, or twitter account specifically for this so that the updates can be quicker, AND I may possibly want to start protesting and rallying. Since the day this has happened, I haven't received an apology from anyone. Not the mayor, not the councilmen, not the police chief, not the police department, not the internal affairs. This cop tried to cause an accident. I haven't even heard a worth-while excuse for it yet. I know i'm not the only one who thinks that officers shouldn't try to get into accidents with people, as well as harassing citizens and provoking them into getting arrested...because of that, I am contemplating setting up a twitter account, as well as protesting (with banners, shirts, etc.) because something should be done in a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps if this made national news, something would be done quicker.
Any suggestions for protesting/rallying? What are your opinions?

Update 1: (4/30/16)
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone supporting me. I didn't know this video would get as much attention as it's getting. Because of that, I feel like I should bring up what happened after the 'traffic stop.'
On March 31st, I was eating with a friend at a local Zinburger. Afterwards, we were walking to my car and I was explaining to him what happened when the cop slammed on his brakes. A cop car happened to drive by us in the parking lot, and apparently, they overheard the conversation. The cop stopped the car, and confronted me. I don't know how coincidental it is, but the cop was Velez, and a partner.
The first thing he said was "what did you say?" At this point, I was thinking "This guy's a hot head," and tried to diffuse the situation.
We kept going back and forth, but the officer said, "if you were a man, you would say something to my face." The officer also said ,"you are a coward." At that point, he started backing up and I said "sir, you have a badge and uniform and represent the state of NJ, and you act like that?"
At that point, he reapproached me again, shoulders square within 2 feet of me. Safe to say it was uncomfortable. Again, he said I was a coward. I am confident he was trying to provoke me into saying or doing something thst would warrant an arrest, so I just repeated "I will see you in court," at which point I offered to shake his hand, but he just walked away.
I did not put this in the video because I didn't have proof of it, but I have initiated a case with internal affairs about a week after it happened. I also have a witness in my friend who will be involved in the investigation. The partner can also be asked if this happened, but I doubt he would be willing to speak about it.
Regardless, the investigator that I spoke to will be checking if Velez was on duty on the day and time in question, which I was accurately able to provide, along with the my friend's contact info.

I tried to convey my thoughts accurately in the video, but I don't believe it is being received how I would like it to be received. Again, I am grateful for the police. By no means am I saying that all police officers are uneducated and under-trained. There are plenty of officers who care about what they do, and thus, they are efficient at what they do, and we should be grateful for them providing a safe environment for us. I am not grouping all police officers together.
That being said, I believe requiring officers to have more education will substantially decrease the frequency of situations like this and will ultimately benefit all of society.

The next court date is scheduled for July 11th, but all that will happen is the announcement of the case moving to another city. Will keep everyone posted as soon as something happens. Additionally, I may create a facebook event, or twitter account specifically for this so that the updates can be quicker, AND I may possibly want to start protesting and rallying. Since the day this has happened, I haven't received an apology from anyone. Not the mayor, not the councilmen, not the police chief, not the police department, not the internal affairs. This cop tried to cause an accident. I haven't even heard a worth-while excuse for it yet. I know i'm not the only one who thinks that officers shouldn't try to get into accidents with people, as well as harassing citizens and provoking them into getting arrested...because of that, I am contemplating setting up a twitter account, as well as protesting (with banners, shirts, etc.) because something should be done in a reasonable amount of time. Perhaps if this made national news, something would be done quicker.
Any suggestions for protesting/rallying? What are your opinions?

Court is scheduled for Monday, June 13th! I think I got the notice late because of Memorial day weekend. Not sure what my attorney will do yet, but I don't think the 13th will be the end of this. Not yet at-least.

Update 1: (4/30/16)
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone supporting me. I didn't know this video would get as much attention as it's getting. Because of that, I feel like I should bring up what happened after the 'traffic stop.'
On March 31st, I was eating with a friend at a local Zinburger. Afterwards, we were walking to my car and I was explaining to him what happened when the cop slammed on his brakes. A cop car happened to drive by us in the parking lot, and apparently, they overheard the conversation. The cop stopped the car, and confronted me. I don't know how coincidental it is, but the cop was Velez, and a partner.
The first thing he said was "what did you say?" At this point, I was thinking "This guy's a hot head," and tried to diffuse the situation.
We kept going back and forth, but the officer said, "if you were a man, you would say something to my face." The officer also said ,"you are a coward." At that point, he started backing up and I said "sir, you have a badge and uniform and represent the state of NJ, and you act like that?"
At that point, he reapproached me again, shoulders square within 2 feet of me. Safe to say it was uncomfortable. Again, he said I was a coward. I am confident he was trying to provoke me into saying or doing something thst would warrant an arrest, so I just repeated "I will see you in court," at which point I offered to shake his hand, but he just walked away.
I did not put this in the video because I didn't have proof of it, but I have initiated a case with internal affairs about a week after it happened. I also have a witness in my friend who will be involved in the investigation. The partner can also be asked if this happened, but I doubt he would be willing to speak about it.
Regardless, the investigator that I spoke to will be checking if Velez was on duty on the day and time in question, which I was accurately able to provide, along with the my friend's contact info.

I tried to convey my thoughts accurately in the video, but I don't believe it is being received how I would like it to be received. Again, I am grateful for the police. By no means am I saying that all police officers are uneducated and under-trained. There are plenty of officers who care about what they do, and thus, they are efficient at what they do, and we should be grateful for them providing a safe environment for us. I am not grouping all police officers together.
That being said, I believe requiring officers to have more education will substantially decrease the frequency of situations like this and will ultimately benefit all of society.

After putting nearly 115 miles in the Hoka One One Clifton 3, i am ready to report back! As many of you might remember, I thuroughly enjoyed the original Clifton. Despite it's shortcomings, Hoka had released a super lightweight, cushioned racer that went the distance and beyond!
Well, their follow up version, the Clifton 2, did not do me happy and unfortunately, suffered from weight, stiffness and major fit constraint. I am happy to report that the Clifton 3 is back to form with a softer, stretchier upper and soft cushion that harkens back to the original.
Really my only new gripes are with the surprising weight addition (nearly 2.5 oz heavier than version 1!), the welded overlay durability and the looks. Other than that, Hoka once again has a pretty stellar road shoe on their hands here - or I guess, on their feet!

What was supposed to be a single time lapse of the ship getting pulled out, ended up turning into a four day documentation of the entire event. This is a continuation from my previous time lapses found here https://vimeo.com/42113389.
There were three attempts to pull the Eihatsu Maru out, two of them failing with the rope snapping and the third being a success. The diesel on the Japanese trawler, which was also carrying fish, had to be pumped into a bladder on the beach to decrease its weight, making it easier to pull out. It ended up being quite a lengthy operation involving teams of specialised staff to operate and to offload machinery, and to coordinate the event.
The diesel was offloaded, a stronger towing point was welded to the rear of the ship and she was pulled out at high tide on Friday the 18th May 2012.

All shots taken 6th April 2011 during a trip to Bristol.
The journey starts at Avonmouth at an observation point overlooking the gorge. We then took a stroll through the parkland towards Clifton shooting along the way.
There is a brief look at the exclusive Clifton residential area before entering the bridge. Photographs of some of the engineering features of the bridge along with shots of the gorge beneath.
We then headed towards Clifton Village before going into Bristol City where there is a strong water theme with, amongst others, pavement fountains overlooked by Neptune.
The Samaritans plaque on the tower is a last minute attempt to save some poor soul who is there to attempt suicide by leaping from the bridge. Sadly, many have succeeded through the lack of a little understanding and compassionate empathy.

A little history behind the Clifton suspension bridge.
This bridge was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel F.R.S. (1806 - 1859).
Work commenced on the supporting piers in 1831 but the work was halted as funds ran out. The final design was modified by members of the Institute of Civil Engineers before the completion of the bridge in 1864 (five years after the death of Brunel).
The bridge stands as a memorial to Brunel. A fitting tribute to a truly remarkable man. Well worth a Google.

Total length 1351 feet (412 metres)
Total span 702 feet (214 metres)
Width 31 feet (9.4 metres)
Height of road above high water 245 feet (74 metres)
Height of piers 86 feet (26 metres)
Cables are anchored 55 feet below ground level. (16 metres)
