A man has revealed how he turned his property into a fortress with a three-metre high wall in an effort to keep his ex-partner out.

The pensioner, known only as Tony, decided to build a fortress with barbed wire wrapped around his humble home on the Central Coast of NSW.

Appearing on A Current Affair, the former builder said he went to extreme lengths to prevent his ex-lover from pillaging his home.

'I'm going to extreme lengths to protect what is mine,' Peter told the Nine Network program.

'Good luck getting in b**ch.'

The homeowner said the council had sent him a letter to warn him about the hefty $1.1 million fine he could face if he doesn't remove the structure.

'Our property is not worth $1.1 million,' he said.

Inspired by World War I and ancient Rome, the man said he spent three weeks building his fortress out of planks of wood, barbed wire and even a catapult.

'Trump's wall would not be as strong as this,' he said.

'I think Mr Trump could learn a bit about building walls to keep certain people out.'
