Highly regarded Essendon big man Aaron Francis was carried off the field at the Bombers' intraclub match on Wednesday.
The No. 6 pick in the 2015 draft, who managed only three AFL games last season after injury concerns, including a calf complaint, appeared to seriously injure an ankle midway through the practice match at the club's Tullamarine headquarters.
