  • 39 reading now

It turns out leaping off the roof of the Super Bowl stadium in a crystal-studded power suit and tricking the so-called 'alt-right' into thinking you're performing a satanic ritual pays dividends, especially if your name is Lady Gaga.

The halftime performance was so lucrative, the pop star's music sales reportedly surged 1000% immediately after the halftime show.

Lady Gaga soars into Super Bowl

Pop star Lady Gaga wows the 70,000 plus crowd at Super Bowl 51 by jumping off the roof of Houston's NRG Stadium in Texas.

On the same day as the Super Bowl, Gaga sold about 150,000 digital albums and songs in the United States, according to Billboard - up from 15,000 the previous day.

Her biggest-selling song on Super Bowl Sunday was the emotional ballad Million Reasons, which was downloaded around 45,000 times.

Coming in second and third were Bad Romance, hitting 13,000 downloads in the US, and Born this Way (12,000 downloads). The surge in sales is expected to continue throughout the week.

It's an impressive feat for a performance that lasted just under 15 minutes, but not surprising given it was watched by millions all across the world.

While Gaga did not make an explicitly anti-Trump statement as some were expecting, her show did include a message of diversity and inclusiveness.

The show included mash-ups of bangers like LGBTIQ anthem Born this Way, as well as a rendition of This Land is Your Land - a song that has been played at numerous anti-Trump marches.

"We're here to make you feel good," Gaga told the crowd.

Her fans definitely returned the favour.
