women 2015So cops in Chicago now function like the thugs of the CIA by having a black site where they torture and disappear folks they arrest. Let that set in for a minute. Chicago cops, with a storied history of corruption and brutality, operate an off-the-books compound where they interrogate folks. Ask many of the prisoners we support and they’ll describe similar torture during their detentions and/or imprisonments. Speaking of supporting political prisoners, it’s time again for the every-other-week NYC ABC political prisoner letter-writing dinner. In this month of women’s history, we offer our solidarity to female rebels.

Come find out more about Debbie, Janet, and Janine Africa, Maya Chase, Chelsea Manning, Rev. Joy Powell, Megan Rice, and Rebecca Rubin. We’ll also have other political prisoner news, so come enjoy a meal with friends (new or old).

We expect to see you on Tuesday. If you can’t make it, please take the time to write letters to the prisoners:

women 2014NYC ABC‘s disdain for cops is storied, but did you know we harbor the same vitriol for landlords? Oh, sure. They’re in the same category as bosses, and the only boss we listen to is named Springsteen. So it comes as no surprise when a negligent landlord (it almost sounds redundant, no?) fails to tend to his building, people die. And that’s not hyperbole. Of course landlords and bosses are but two of the functionaries that keep us oppressed under the state and capitalism. And when folks have the audacity to fight back? Well, that’s when the state is waiting with cages for the rebels. We in NYC ABC stand in support of such imprisoned comrades. The most frequent way we do that is through our every-other-week letter-writing dinners.  And in this month of women’s history, we offer our solidarity to female rebels.

Come find out more about Debbie, Janet, and Janine Africa, Chelsea Manning, Marie Mason, Rev. Joy Powell, and Rebecca Rubin. We’ll also have other political prisoner news, so come enjoy a meal with friends (new or old).

hayes_latine_majid_powellWe did it, NYC! We survived the storm of the century a regular winter snow storm. And while we skipped our every-other-week political prisoner letter-writing dinner scheduled for December 24th, we’re back and going hard for 2014. Hot on the heels of our New Year’s Eve Noise Demo, we in NYC Anarchist Black Cross want the start of this year to show our commitment to the political prisoners and prisoners of war closest to us. These are comrades who deserve, short of the full freedom we all desire, a minimum of strong solidarity. So we will enter 2014 focusing on those folks held behind New York State walls.

This week we will be writing Robert Seth Hayes, Maliki Shakur Latine, Abdul Majid, and Rev. Joy Powell. We’re very fortunate to have two great guest speakers coming in to discuss these cases– “Tessa Through” from Through the Walls and Anne from New York City Jericho Movement.

If for some insane reason you can’t make it out, but still want to support the prisoners, you can write to them at:

Robert Seth Hayes #74-A-2280
Sullivan Correctional Facility
Post Office Box 116

NYC – May 11th – Mother’s Day Eve Noise Demo Against the PIC

mothers-day-eve-noise-demo

WHAT: Noise Demo
WHEN: 8:00pm, Saturday, May 11th
WHERE: Bayview Correctional Facility – West 20th Street & 11th Avenue New York, New York
COST: Free

As the Global Class War continues to heat up, the state continues its ongoing use of force, surveillance, and threat of incarceration against anyone who defies its laws. From Cece McDonald who got sentenced to 3 years for fighting back against a fucking Nazi, to Marie Mason— serving over twenty years for defending Earth and non-human animals, to Patreese Johnson who is still locked up for defending herself and her friends from being gay-bashed, to Lynne Stewart who is serving ten years for defending radical and revolutionary movements as an attorney, to Revered Joy Powell who is serving a life sentence for agitating  against police violence, to the MOVE 9 women who had their house bombed and children killed because of their political beliefs, there is a clear pattern and history of the state using prisons to criminalize our resistance and self defense.

In solidarity with May Day calls for a world without borders and bosses, on the eve of Mother’s Day NYC Anarchist Black Cross calls for a world without cages for all. We call for it during this time, because 2/3 of all women in prison are mothers and we recognize the forced separation of a child from their caregiver by the state as an act of violence aimed at destroying families and social relationships. Furthermore, as an extension of that, when police continue killing people indiscriminately on the outside, they leave grieving families and loved ones with a loss that the “justice system” could never truly vindicate. For our communities, our loved ones, and liberation of all, burn the prisons!

NYC – 19 Mar – Card-signing for Women’s History Month

women 2013A mere month ago, we wrote about the nearly universal disdain folks have for cops. There’s little reason to explain why this is true, but some solid examples are the facts that cops consistently MURDER CHILDREN, have threatened to kill the grandmother of one of their victims, and conspire to murder and eat women. Of course these are outstanding events, but they shouldn’t be seen as exceptional in the context of an armed authority that protects the state and capital. These examples are highlights of an institution that by design oppresses to maintain the status quo. Another component of that oppression is imprisonment. We in NYC ABC respond to the caging of our comrades with support. Part of that support comes in the form of our every-other-week political prisoner letter-writing dinners. And in this month of women’s history, we offer our solidarity to female rebels. We’ll be providing updates and a little background on Debbie, Janet, and Janine Africa, Patreese Johnson, Marie Mason, CeCe McDonald, Rev. Joy Powell, Rebecca Rubin, and Lynne Stewart.

If, for whatever reason, you can’t make it to dinner, please take the time to write these comrades a letter:
