Mother Love Bone was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1988. The band was active from 1988 to 1990. Frontman Andrew Wood's personality and compositions helped to catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning late 1980s/early 1990s Seattle music scene. Wood died only days before the scheduled release of the band's debut album, Apple, thus ending the group's hopes of success. The album was finally released a few months later.
Mother Love Bone was established in 1988 by ex-Green River members Jeff Ament, Bruce Fairweather and Stone Gossard, ex-Malfunkshun frontman Andrew Wood and ex-Ten Minute Warning and Skin Yard drummer Greg Gilmore. Initially, the group was formed in 1987 out of the cover band Lords of the Wasteland which featured Wood, Gossard, Ament and Malfunkshun drummer Regan Hagar. By early 1988 the band had added Fairweather, replaced Hagar with drummer Greg Gilmore and changed its name to Mother Love Bone.
This new line-up quickly set about recording and playing area shows and by late 1988 had become one of Seattle's more promising bands. Wood's exuberant on-stage personality, outlandish clothes and dreamy lyrics helped bring attention to the band. In the 1996 grunge documentary, Hype!, Seattle engineer Jack Endino called Wood "the only stand-up comedian frontman in Seattle," a reference to Wood's playful style of interacting with Mother Love Bone fans.
Pearl Jam is an American rock band, formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Since its inception, the band's line-up has comprised Eddie Vedder (lead vocals), Mike McCready (lead guitar), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass). The band's fifth member is drummer Matt Cameron (also of Soundgarden), who has been with the band since 1998. Boom Gaspar (piano) has also been a session/touring member with the band since 2002. Drummers Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, Dave Abbruzzese and Jack Irons are former members of the band.
Formed after the demise of Gossard and Ament's previous band, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam broke into the mainstream with its debut album, Ten, in 1991. One of the key bands in the grunge movement of the early 1990s, over the course of the band's career, its members became noted for their refusal to adhere to traditional music industry practices, including refusing to make proper music videos or give interviews, and engaging in a much-publicized boycott of Ticketmaster. In 2006, Rolling Stone described the band as having "spent much of the past decade deliberately tearing apart their own fame."
Chris Cornell (born Christopher John Boyle; July 20, 1964) is an American rock musician and singer-songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter and rhythm guitarist for Seattle rock band Soundgarden and as former lead vocalist and songwriter for the supergroup Audioslave. He is also known for his numerous solo works and soundtrack contributions since 1991, and as founder and frontman for Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to his friend the late Andrew Wood.
Cornell is also known for his role as one of the architects of the 1990s grunge movement, for his extensive catalog as a songwriter and for his near four octave vocal range as well as his powerful vocal belting technique. He has released four solo studio albums, Euphoria Morning (1999), Carry On (2007), Scream (2009), Higher Truth (2015) and live album Songbook (2011). Cornell received a Golden Globe Award nomination for his song "The Keeper" which appeared in the film Machine Gun Preacher and co-wrote and performed the theme song to the James Bond film Casino Royale (2006), "You Know My Name". He was voted "Rock's Greatest Singer" by readers of Guitar World, ranked 4th in the list of "Heavy Metal's All-Time Top 100 Vocalists" by Hit Parader, 9th in the list of "Best Lead Singers of All Time" by Rolling Stone, and 12th in MTV's "22 Greatest Voices in Music".
Andrew Patrick Wood (January 8, 1966 -- March 19, 1990) was an American musician best known as the lead singer for alternative rock bands Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Wood was also known for his androgynous aesthetical persona. Wood formed Malfunkshun, in 1980, with his brother Kevin and Regan Hagar. The band used alter ego personas onstage, with Wood using the name Landrew the Love Child. Though the band only had two songs released, "With Yo' Heart (Not Yo' Hands)" and "Stars-n-You", on the Deep Six compilation album, they are often cited as being among the "founding fathers" of the Seattle's grunge movement. It was during his time in Malfunkshun that Wood started relying heavily on drugs, entering rehab in 1985. By 1988, Malfunkshun had disbanded and Wood began jamming with former ...

SAY HELLO TO HEAVEN ANDREW WOOD ! Temple of the Dog was started by Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who had been a roommate of Andrew Wood, the lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Wood died on March 19, 1990 of a heroin overdose, the day Cornell got back from a tour. As he went on to tour Europe a few days later, he started writing songs in tribute to his late friend. The result was two songs, "Reach Down" and "Say Hello 2 Heaven," which he recorded as soon as he got back from touring. The recorded material was slow and melodic, musically different from the aggressive rock music of Soundgarden. Temple Of The Dog were the first Alternative band to successfully apply "Jarrling" the style of singing only pronouncing vowels in the lyrics. That is why Cornell approached Wood's f...

This is an incredible song that reminds me of friends that have passed. I couldn't find a good video containing the lyrics so I made this one. Enjoy! Say Hello 2 Heaven was written by Chris Cornell in memory of Andrew Wood, the late lead singer of Mother Love Bone. Temple of the Dog is a group comprised of Wood's friend Chris Cornell, his former bandmates Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, their new bandmates Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready, and Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron. Chris Cornell, Temple of the Dog is the only studio album by the American rock band Temple of the Dog, released on April 16, 1991 through A&M; Records. The album is a tribute to Andrew Wood, the former lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Sorry I'm in my P.J's :)
Return to Olympus is the only album by the alternative rock band Malfunkshun. It was released after the band had broken up and after lead singer Andrew Wood (later of Mother Love Bone) had died of a drug overdose in 1990. Stone Gossard, of Pearl Jam, had compiled the songs and released the album on his label, Loosegroove Records. The band covered Ted Nugent's song "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang". 00:00 Enter Landrew 02:50 Muonlyfan 07:13 Mr. Liberty (with Morals) 10:37 Jezebel Woman 15:09 Shot Gun Wedding 19:25 Wang Dang Sweet Poontag 22:25 Until the Ocean 25:39 I Wanna Be Yo Daddy 30:35 Winter Bites 38:13 Make Sweet Love 43:19 Region 48:16 Luxury Bed (The Rocketship Chair) 50:07 Exit Landrew 50:17 [Untitled]

Temple of the Dog to reunite for its first ever tour MORE NEWS : https://goo.gl/flzvlL Short-lived Seattle supergroup Temple Of The Dog has developed an outsized reputation among followers of grunge. Put together as a tribute to Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood—who died of a drug overdose in 1990—the band brought Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell together with most of the musicians who would go on to form Pearl Jam. All friends of Wood, the band’s members stayed together just long enough to play a couple of shows, record a single, well-regarded album, and then go their separate ways. Cornell stayed on with Soundgarden, while Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, and Mike McCready went on to form Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder—who was never an official member of Temple, although his duet with Cornell is at...

People often ask, "Why haven't there been more stories in the mainstream media on the failure of the family courts?" There's a reason. For starters, there is cultural gender bias and there is failure to tie together the hundreds, really thousands, of stories related to batterers and abusers getting custody. But that really is just for starters. Find out what's the problem with getting media coverage and what to do about it. We know the abuser rights groups who call themselves advocates of "father's rights" misframe the custody dispute as one between mothers and fathers. We believe it is a dispute between the vast majority of men and women who believe children should be protected from abusers against a small group of extreme abusers.
