Filmed on 8-11-16. In the late 90's a group of investors decided to dam up the drainage water that flows from Las Vegas, and the 3 sewer treatment plants to form Lake Las Vegas. They even got the big home builders to build multi million dollar homes. Then got 3 casinos to build huge resorts around, and over the lake. Within 2 years the big housing market crash happened, and Lake Las Vegas shut doors. The main casino my son, and I filmed is the Hilton. Its almost like walking through a post popaliptic catastrophe. Billions of dollars lost. Thank you for watching, and please enjoy. FYI There are a few rooms you can stay the night. Very little staff, and casino is gone, and all restaurants are closed in the hotel. I have friends that were laid off just a couple weeks before its closing. I didnt show the graffiti, and all the dead bushes, and flowers. The entire place is in disrepair, and yes there are a few shops open. It is what I said semi abandoned, but its really more then semi. What tourist is going to come to Las Vegas, and stay that far from the strip with no gambling, and no open bars. Thank you again for watching Christian

Though it had a lot of negative feedback, and some of it down rite mean. The video has had nearly 50,000 views, and is growing daily. Please go back on my channel and watch it. People asked if I would go back, and do another. People also told me I need to do my research because the place is completely thriving. I just couldn't believe what people were saying to me when I was there during construction of Lake Las Vegas. Then I was called out to do work there several times a month. I saw the decline of the area during the recession that hit Las Vegas the hardest. I have 3 good friends who worked at the hotels who got a week notice that they were closing doors. I hope that Lake Las Vegas comes back to what it should be because it is truly a unique place in the desert. I also feel people should know the truth about Lake Las Vegas. Theres people flying to Vegas from all over the world, and staying at a place that they can't do anything. Please enjoy, and thanks for watching.

a beautiful Mediterranean themed community about 30 minutes from the LV Strip. There's hotels, homes, a few shops and restaurants, condos and the lake. You could rent various water toys at the marina in the village when we visited.
The casino was closed, an employee at one of the hotels said it was being remodeled by new owners. The recession took a toll here but it looks like it's bouncing back.

It's located roughly 17 miles away from the Las Vegas Strip, in the southeast Las Vegas Valley, yet it seems you've traveled worlds away. With a central village, 2 golf courses, and surrounding a 320 acre lake, the homes here are terraced into the hillsides and can offer some spectacular mountain, lake, and golf course views, and even the Strip can be seen from parts of the community. There are homes, town homes and condos, and the exclusive custom homes of the South Shore. There is a lot happening in Lake Las Vegas, and with many so surprised to see what it offers, I wanted to share a quick look with this video.

Lake Las Vegas
Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada, refers to a 320-acre (130 ha) artificial lake and the 3,592-acre (1,454 ha) developed area around the lake. The area is sometimes referred to as the Lake Las Vegas Resort. Lake Las Vegas is being developed by 5 companies including Lake at Las Vegas Joint Venture LLC.
The area includes three resorts including the Aston MonteLago Village Resort, the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort, and the Hilton Lake Las Vegas.
The dam that creates the lake is "an earthen structure 18 stories high, 4,800 ft (1,500 m) in length and 716 ft (218 m) wide at its base. It contains roughly the same amount of dirt as Hoover Dam does concrete," and was completed in 1991. The Las Vegas Wash passes under the lake and dam in pipes that require maintenance every 10 years.
History
Actor J. Carlton Adair conceived Lake Las Vegas around 1967 for Lake Adair. At the time he purchased the land and water rights. In 1987, Ronald Boeddeker acquired 2,000 acres (810 ha) from the US Government when Adair went bankrupt.

Lake
A lake is an area of variable size filled with water, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake. Lakes lie on land and are not part of the ocean (except for sea lochs in Scotland and Ireland), and therefore are distinct from lagoons, and are also larger and deeper than ponds, though there are no official or scientific definitions. Lakes can be contrasted with rivers or streams, which are usually flowing. However most lakes are fed and drained by rivers and streams.
Natural lakes are generally found in mountainous areas, rift zones, and areas with ongoing glaciation. Other lakes are found in endorheic basins or along the courses of mature rivers. In some parts of the world there are many lakes because of chaotic drainage patterns left over from the last Ice Age. All lakes are temporary over geologic time scales, as they will slowly fill in with sediments or spill out of the basin containing them.
Many lakes are artificial and are constructed for industrial or agricultural use, for hydro-electric power generation or domestic water supply, or for aesthetic or recreational purposes.

a beautiful Mediterranean themed community about 30 minutes from the LV Strip. There's hotels, homes, a few shops and restaurants, condos and the lake. You could rent various water toys at the marina in the village when we visited.
The casino was closed, an employee at one of the hotels said it was being remodeled by new owners. The recession took a toll here but it looks like it's bouncing back.

With a central village, 2 golf courses, and surrounding a 320 acre lake, the homes here are terraced into the hillsides and can offer some spectacular mountain, lake, and golf course views, and even the Strip can be seen from parts of the community. There are homes, town homes and condos, and the exclusive custom homes of the South Shore. There is a lot happening in Lake Las Vegas, and with many so surprised to see what it offers, I wanted to share a quick look with this video.

So we aren't in Canada no more! This weekend we actually escaped to Las Vegas so we are going to be spending three days just enjoying winter in the desert and doing cool stuff. And today we're walking down the strip and we're going to show you some of the sights. And the best part - no winter parka right now.
Enough walking for a while. I'm starving. Let's get some dinner. We're going to Shake Shack.
Tell, me. Tell, me! You know what? Nobody does fast food like Americans. They've got it down to a science. It's absolutely unhealthy but so delicious.
We're going to head back to the hotel and get ready for a show. We're going to be seeing the Michael Jackson Show at the Mandalay Bay but unfortunately we can't bring any cameras in there so we won' t be able to show you that but maybe after the show we'll hit the town again and show you the sights. Not maybe! Definitely!
It is so sad to be leaving but it is our last night in Las Vegas so we're going to go out and try and see as much as we can this evening. Let's go wild. Let's gamble.
It is never ending. The lights. The noise. The ding ding ding ding. This is what a casino sounds like twenty-four seven. We see people gambling here at like five in the morning when we get up for breakfast.
What would a trip to Vegas be like without a little gambling? Sam, even looks like an old gambler today with that hat. Oh, I do. Guess what? We're such cheapskates we're playing with pennies. We're going to the penny machine. They don't even have pennies in Canada anymore, so let's use these American pennies up.
Shiver me timbers. I'm playing a pirate game. I'm going to win me some money.
Tell us? Alright, I was a pretty lousy pirate, so I'm going to try my luck with this Owl game. Hoot! Hoot!
Ding ding ding ding ding. Being the supreme cheapskate that I am I'm cutting my loses after two dollars.
So we're here at the Bellagio for the water show. And they have a lot of frequent shows in the evening so we're just waiting for it to start.
So we are now at the Cosmopolitan and we are visiting one of the coolest bars in all of Las Vegas. This behind me is the Chandelier.

Nigh life, music, gambling, entertainment, dancing, walking the Strip and shows in the evening. Driving luxury cars, helicopter tours, exploring the Grand Canyon and marveling at Red Rock Canyon by day. Las Vegas was full of surprises. The following is a Las Vegas travel guide to experience the most out of your vacation to Sin City. It is the best things to do on Las Vegas Strip along with day excursions outside of the city limits. As they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
So we aren't in Canada no more! This weekend we actually escaped to Las Vegas so we are going to be spending three days just enjoying winter in the desert and doing cool stuff. And today we're walking down the strip and we're going to show you some of the sights. And the best part - no winter parka right now.
Enough walking for a while. I'm starving. Let's get some dinner. We're going to Shake Shack.
Tell, me. Tell, me! You know what? Nobody does fast food like Americans. They've got it down to a science. It's absolutely unhealthy but so delicious.
We're going to head back to the hotel and get ready for a show. We're going to be seeing the Michael Jackson Show at the Mandalay Bay but unfortunately we can't bring any cameras in there so we won' t be able to show you that but maybe after the show we'll hit the town again and show you the sights. Not maybe! Definitely!
It is so sad to be leaving but it is our last night in Las Vegas so we're going to go out and try and see as much as we can this evening. Let's go wild. Let's gamble.
It is never ending. The lights. The noise. The ding ding ding ding. This is what a casino sounds like twenty-four seven. We see people gambling here at like five in the morning when we get up for breakfast.
What would a trip to Vegas be like without a little gambling? Sam, even looks like an old gambler today with that hat. Oh, I do. Guess what? We're such cheapskates we're playing with pennies. We're going to the penny machine. They don't even have pennies in Canada anymore, so let's use these American pennies up.
Shiver me timbers. I'm playing a pirate game. I'm going to win me some money.
Tell us? Alright, I was a pretty lousy pirate, so I'm going to try my luck with this Owl game. Hoot! Hoot!
Ding ding ding ding ding. Being the supreme cheapskate that I am I'm cutting my loses after two dollars.
So we're here at the Bellagio for the water show. And they have a lot of frequent shows in the evening so we're just waiting for it to start.
So we are now at the Cosmopolitan and we are visiting one of the coolest bars in all of Las Vegas. This behind me is the Chandelier.

The Venetian is the world's largest hotel with more than 6,600 spacious suites and a gondolier is on hand to transport visitors through a watery shopping mall as he graces them with an Italian love song.

The Las Vegas Strip is an approximately 4.2-mile (6.8 km) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard South in Clark County, Nevada. The Strip is not located within the City of Las Vegas but is in the unicorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester, which are south of the Las Vegas city limits. Most of the Strip has been designated an All-American Road, and is considered a scenic route at night, Many of the largest hotel,casino, and resort properties in the world are located on the Las Vegas Strip. Fifteen of the world's 25 largest hotels by room count are on the Strip, with a total of over 62,000 rooms.
The most important places to visit in Las Vegas are: New York roller coaster, the Eiffel Tower, talking statues at the Caesar Palace, The Bellagio fountain show, The Mirage Volcano and let's not forget all the great casinos, Mandalay Bay, Wynn and many more.
