Proxima may refer to one of the following:
Coordinates: 14h 29m 42.9487s, −62° 40′ 46.141″
Proxima Centauri (from Latin, meaning "nearest (star) of Centaurus") is a red dwarf star about 4.24 light-years from the Sun, inside the G-cloud, in the constellation of Centaurus. It was discovered in 1915 by the Scottish astronomer Robert Innes, the Director of the Union Observatory in South Africa, and is the nearest known star to the Sun, although it is too faint to be seen with the naked eye, with an apparent magnitude of 11.05. Its distance to the second- and third-nearest stars, which form the bright binary Alpha Centauri, is 0.237 ± 0.011 ly (15,000 ± 700 AU). Proxima Centauri is very likely part of a triple star system with Alpha Centauri A and B, but its orbital period may be greater than 500,000 years.
Because of Proxima Centauri's proximity to Earth, its angular diameter can be measured directly, from which it can be determined that its diameter is about one-seventh of that of the Sun. Proxima Centauri's mass is about an eighth of the Sun's mass (M☉), and its average density is about 40 times that of the Sun. Although it has a very low average luminosity, Proxima is a flare star that undergoes random dramatic increases in brightness because of magnetic activity. The star's magnetic field is created by convection throughout the stellar body, and the resulting flare activity generates a total X-ray emission similar to that produced by the Sun. The mixing of the fuel at Proxima Centauri's core through convection and its relatively low energy-production rate mean that it will be a main-sequence star for another four trillion years, or nearly 300 times the current age of the universe.
Thomas Pesquet (born 27 February 1978) is a French aerospace engineer, pilot, and European Space Agency astronaut. Pesquet was selected by ESA as a candidate in May 2009, and he successfully completed his basic training in November 2010. In 2016, Pesquet is scheduled to join the International Space Station as a crew member for Expedition 50 and Expedition 51.
Pesquet was born in Rouen, France and considers Dieppe his hometown. He is the youngest of two brothers. Pesquet is a black belt in judo and lists basketball, jogging, swimming, and squash as his favorite sports. He is an outdoor and adventure activities enthusiast, and enjoys mountain biking, kite surfing, sailing, skiing and mountaineering. He also has extensive experience with, and holds advanced licenses in both scuba diving and parachuting. His other interests include traveling, playing the saxophone, and reading.
Pesquet graduated from the Lycée Pierre Corneille in Rouen, France, in 1998.
In 2001, he received a master’s degree from the École nationale supérieure de l'aéronautique et de l'espace in Toulouse, France, majoring in space systems and space vehicle mechanics. He spent his final year before graduation at the École Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada, as an exchange student on the Aeronautics and Space Master.
Alpha Centauri (α Cen), also known as Rigil Kent (/ˈraɪdʒəl ˈkɛnt/)(the "Centaur's Foot") or Toliman, is the closest star system to the Solar System at 4.37 ly (1.34 pc). It consists of three stars: the pair Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B and a small and faint red dwarf, Alpha Centauri C, better known as Proxima Centauri, that may be gravitationally bound to the other two. (Beta Centauri, or β Centauri, should not be confused with Alpha Centauri B, and is a separate, trinary, system of its own.) To the unaided eye, the two main components appear as a single object of an apparent visual magnitude of −0.27, forming the brightest star in the southern constellation Centaurus and the third-brightest star in the night sky, only outshone by Sirius and Canopus.
Alpha Centauri A (α Cen A) has 110% of the mass and 151.9% the luminosity of the Sun, and Alpha Centauri B (α Cen B) is smaller and cooler, at 90.7% of the Sun's mass and 44.5% of its visual luminosity. During the pair's 79.91-year orbit about a common center, the distance between them varies from about that between Pluto and the Sun to that between Saturn and the Sun. Proxima is at the slightly smaller distance of 1.29 parsecs or 4.24 light years from the Sun, making it the closest star to the Sun, even though it is not visible to the naked eye. The separation of Proxima from Alpha Centauri AB is about 0.06 parsecs, 0.2 light years or 15,000 astronomical units (AU), equivalent to 500 times the size of Neptune's orbit.

In August 2016 astronomers made a huge announcement: they had discovered a potentially habitable exoplanet right in our cosmic backyard. The world is called Proxima B, and it's located within Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to Earth. The discover is intriguing because well... it's an exoplanet we might actually be able to GO TO within our lifetimes! Engineers have hypothesized a spacecraft that could reach Proxima B by as soon as 2060. Sure that's a long way off, but it beats the thousands or even millions of years it would take to travel to any other potentially habitable planet! What do we currently know about Proxima B and what would it take to get there? This week we find out! We want to hear from you! What would it take for you to pull up stakes and move to another planet? Le...

In this Paris street
Rue Mouffetard
I was blinded by lights
I could barely breathe
I was staring at you
Singing for you in silence
I knew your wild side from the start
But the butterfly can’t escape … the fire
In this Paris street
Rue Mouffetard
I was walking besides you
I wanted I wanted to love you
I told you I wanted to kiss you
And I’ll never forget your look
Your eyes were so grey and the world around
Collapsed and put me out of tune
As you said
"You may be kind but you’re not my kind
You may be kind but you’re not my …
You may be kind but you’re not my kind
You may be kind honey
But I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you … Let’s make it clear"
Arrived at the bar
The Piano Vache
I don’t wanna sit I don’t wanna talk I don’t wanna drink
I don’t want
I don’t wanna see you
I don’t wanna cry
I don’t wanna smell you
I wish I could die
Remembering
"You may be kind but you’re not my kind
You may be kind but you’re not my …
You may be kind but you’re not my kind
You may be kind honey
But I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you
I don’t want you … Let’s make it clear … Huh yeah let’s make it clear
I don’t want you honey … Let’s make it clear
I don’t want you honey … Let’s make it clear
I don’t want you baby"
Then I cried
Yes I cried
Oh yes
