Tami McVay, 34, (left) was killed when a tree supporting a zip line she was riding struck her in the skull and caused severe head trauma in northwestern Oregon on Saturday. The mother-of-three was sliding on the homemade line near the Nehalem River (right) with her boyfriend Joshua Jackson (inset) when the tree holding them up was uprooted and fell on the couple. She was pronounced dead at the scene after her Jackson made the 911 call to Tillamook County police around 6am. The couple took a trail near the Nehalem River, normally used by experienced hikers, and they were so far along that rescuers used all-terrain vehicles and had to hike two miles to reach the two.

Auckland student Rachael Louise De Jong, 21, (inset) drowned after the Aratiatia Dam In New Zealand had its floodgates opened, sending water surging down the river where she was swimming with friends. Two German tourists, Katrin Taylor and Kevin Kiau, were on a viewing platform in the dam area when they heard the warning siren for the opening floodgates and watched in horror as the water surged towards four people standing on a submerged rock (main). Ms De Jong was swept away, her body was recovered from a rockpool by police on Monday night. Devastated friends and family say Ms De Jong was a smiling, bubbly woman and loved by many.

As of Tuesday evening neither of the companies were selling Ivanka's fashion line, but each company has insisted that the decision to remove the merchandise was not politically driven and instead based on performance.

James White celebrated the New England Patriots historic Super Bowl win by heading straight from Houston, Texas to the happiest place on Earth - Disney World. The 25-year-old running back and his girlfriend, Diana Civitello, boarded a private plane first thing Monday morning to fly to Orlando where White was celebrated by thousands who lined the streets at Disney for the annual post-Super Bowl parade. The New England Patriots victory parade kicked off just after 11:30am in Boston on Tuesday. Despite snow, rain and a nearly 40-minute delay, fans in the city were in high spirits. The team is celebrating its fifth Super Bowl win since 2002. Tom Brady (top right) led the Patriots to a 34-28 victory over the Falcons in an amazing overtime comeback, after trailing Atlanta for the entire game. Richard Hatch who was best known for playing Captain Apollo on TV series Battlestar Galactica has died. The actor was 71. He passed away in hospice care after battling pancreatic cancer, his family revealed on Tuesday. Hatch started his career in the daytime soap All My Children in 1970 and in 1978 landed the role in the original Battlestar Galactica (left) that ran for one season and earned him a Golden Globe nomination. And 36 years later he joined the cast of new reimagined Battlestar Galactica (right) to play a subversive politician over four seasons in the critically acclaimed SyFy show. 

Just three weeks shy of their 31st anniversary, Donald and Sandra Lee Cragin (pictured) were found dead by a relative in their Maine home (inset left) after taking their own lives a few minutes minutes apart. Sandra, 55, a mother-of-two and a grandmother, was suffering from Huntington's disease - an incurable hereditary illness in which also killed her father.

A Brazilian teen born with microcephaly has become the first person in the world with the condition to be signed-up by a modelling agency. Ana Victoria Lago, 17, (pictured left and centre during a photoshoot, top right as a toddler and bottom right with her mother Viviane as a child) from Manaus, Brazil, has a smaller than normal head and an under-developed brain because of a genetic abnormality. She was snapped up by BM Model's Agency based in the city on Saturday and hopes to make history by debuting on the runway at the Rio de Janeiro Fashion Week in June. Although Ana's condition has not been caused by the Zika virus, her family hope she will be an inspiration to those affected by the disease which has ravaged Brazil.

Her stepfather Jamie Watson gave an update on his stepdaughter's condition and thanked people for their support on Tuesday. Her mom Jamie Lynn Spears and her husband Watson had tried desperately to save their daughter but couldn't free her from her safety belt. She was eventually rescued by paramedics who arrived within just a couple minutes and was airlifted to hospital where she has remained in a critical but stable condition until today. Maddie, whose aunt Britney Spears (inset) appealed for prayers for her niece, finally regained consciousness at around midday on Tuesday, surrounded by family, who have been at her hospital bed since the accident.

Rape survivor, Thordis Elva (left), from Iceland, was just 16 when she was raped by her then-boyfriend, Tom Stranger (right), 18, a foreign exchange student from Australia. The pair have joined forces 20 years on and released a TED talk (inset) about the assault. In the talk, the pair discuss the impact the rape had on both of their lives.

North Carolina mother, Kaycee Oxendine (bottom left), says surveillance video at Carrboro Early School, the daycare where she works, caught another worker (top left) breastfeeding her three-month-old son without permission. On Friday, Oxendine said her son's teacher told her he was constipated. Another woman (right) working in the nursery that day asked Oxendine if she could breastfeed the little boy to see if that would help with the constipation. But Oxendine told her no, twice. Several hours later, Oxendine had to rush her son to the UNC Hospital because she said he became ill and started throwing up. The child was born prematurely, is lactose intolerant and can't have any milk products. The woman has been fired, but Oxendine wants the unidentified woman charged. Carrboro police said they are investigating, but no charges have been filed.

Tamron Hall (left) is reportedly being encouraged to join Kelly Ripa (right) on Live With Kelly after the former Today host abruptly left NBC News a week ago following the hiring of Megyn Kelly. The 46-year-old journalist was spotted having lunch with Discovery's Henry Schleiff at Michael's as the two were discussing her next career move, Page Six reported. 'He was encouraging her to join Kelly,' a source said. 'He said, 'Throw your hat in the ring! Lighten things up.'' Since her departure from the Peacock network, many have speculated as to what her next move will be. Hall abruptly left NBC News refusing an offer of over $2million a year after Today cancelled her 9am hour slot with Al Rocker.

Emergency crews in the San Francisco Bay Area rescued stranded residents from flooded homes and cars Tuesday as the latest storm in this wet California winter set off street flooding and rockslides. In Marin County north of San Francisco, authorities sounded the community emergency siren at 8am when heavy rain and high tide started to send roaring Corte Madera Creek over its banks at the town of Kentfield. Emergency crews in boats and on foot carried out seven rescues for people trapped in their homes or cars as the water rose. South of San Francisco, one of several rockslides and mudslides overturned a pickup truck on a state route near Santa Cruz. More than seven inches of rain fell in Sonoma County, roughly 45 miles north of San Francisco, while Santa Cruz County, about 60 miles to the south, received at least six inches.

Daniel Miller, 45, became stuck after his three tonne excavator rolled in Charlotte Bay, NSW, Australia, following heavy rain on Wednesday. He spent two hours with only his face above the muddy water before a neighbor, who was 1,600 feet away, miraculously heard his cries for help. Mr Miller was able to arch his back and lift his nose out of the water, allowing him to breathe as he anxiously waited for authorities. Water was pumped out of the dam by fire crews before he was pulled free. Mr Miller was taken to John Hunter Hospital via helicopter suffering hypothermia and back injuries.

Thirteen-year-old Danielle Bregoli rose to Internet fame after an iconic performance on Dr Phil where she berated an entertained audience - telling them to 'cash her ousside', propositioning a fight. It appears the young woman made good on her promise, after recently being kicked off of a Spirit Airlines flight with her mother, Barbara Ann, for punching another passenger Tuesday night at LAX. In the video, Bregoli and her mother can be heard in a screaming argument with another woman, ending in the meme sensation pummeling the woman in the face.

An old man was filmed cruising down the street, completely oblivious he had driven off with a gas pump nozzle still attached to his car. A gray-haired man was seemingly enjoying the weather as he rolled down a palm tree-lined street with the top down on his convertible car. He was so distracted by the day that he was oblivious he had driven off with a gas pump nozzle sticking out of his car while driving in traffic.

A cameraman gave viewers an eyeful of Patricia Martinez's low cut golden swimming costume when she appeared on Mira Quien Salta - the Spanish version of the show Splash! which featured Olympic star Tom Daley. He cuts out her face completely and focuses in on her breasts in the shot.

A massive sinkhole at a Florida fertilizer plant that swallowed more than 200 million gallons of radioactive water is now in the process of being filled. The toxic sinkhole that opened up at the Mosaic's New Wales plant in Mulberry, Florida, is being sealed by a concrete mixture. Video taken from WFTS-TV's helicopter last week showed a built-up ring around the hole as crews have begun pumping the mixture inside. The sinkhole, which measures 45 feet in diameter and is 300 feet deep, opened up beneath a pile of waste material at Mosaic, the world's largest supplier of phosphate. Mosaic said it has continued to monitor the groundwater and has not found evidence that any off-site water has been contaminated. But residents are still living in fear. Joyce Hunter, who lives a couple miles from the plant, said that she doesn't drink the water at all. She and her neighbor, Ron Lynn, say they are just praying the radioactive water that got sucked into the hole doesn't reach their private wells. The state ordered Mosaic to keep testing the wells every quarter this year and twice in 2018 So far, Mosaic says tests show that contaminated water has not left the company's property.

A wildlife park has captured the adorable moment one koala has snuggled up to another and used her soft, furry head as a pillow for nap time. Willow was filmed cuddling up to Imogen at Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh, New South Wales. Willow was perched behind Imogen with her arms around Imogen's neck, holding onto the branch of a tree. She was then seen resting her chin on Imogen's head and snuggling in to fall asleep.
